  • Publication number: 20240121919
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a process that provides a semiconductor substrate and forms repeating, conductive patterns configured for coupling to active circuitry. Each pattern comprises a group of thermally conductive layers, wherein the group of thermally layers is thermally coupled to a thermal source generated by the active circuitry. Thermally conductive vias interconnect the group of thermally conductive layers, wherein a combination of the vias and the group of thermally conductive layers is configured to transfer heat from the thermal source with a desired directionality. The first repeating patterns are thermally coupled to each other to combine the desired directionality of each of the patterns, wherein the combination results in a distributed directionality of the heat from the thermal source thereby reducing a localized concentration of the heat. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20130198670
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an environment control method and to an environment controller. An input interface receives an environmental characteristic value from a sensor. A processing module determines a current environmental state based on the environmental characteristic value. A touch-sensitive display shows an icon having a visual appearance representing the current environmental state. A user selection of the icon is detected by the touch-sensitive display. A control menu having a content based on the current environmental state is shown on the touch-sensitive display. A color or a luminance level of the icon may be used to represent the actual status. The touch-sensitive display may concurrently show several icons, each icon representing a distinct environmental feature based on one value or on a combination of values, each icon also showing a current status of the environmental feature.

  • Patent number: 5124936
Abstract: Radioactivity from airborne uranium and transuranium elements is measured by utilizing two independent alpha spectroscopy techniques to subtract background alpha radiation from a gross radiation measurement to provide a net alpha count associated with just the uranium or transuranium elements of interest. An average of the two net alpha counts is computed and used as a measure of the alpha radiation or count of interest. Negative systematic errors appearing in the net alpha counts are minimized by setting any long term negative value of the net alpha count to zero. The first spectroscopy technique divides a measured alpha spectrum into n regions, where n is greater than four, and where the region of interest has the lowest range of alpha particle energies.

  • Patent number: 4524607
Abstract: A system and method for detecting, and then specifically locating, a leaking tube or tubes from among a plurality of tubes which extend through a chamber and are accessible at their opposite ends from outside the chamber, such as, for example, cooling tubes of a steam condenser. The system includes a reservoir containing a supply of tracer fluid, a plurality of conduits forming a matrix which releases tracer fluid in a controllable manner into predetermined groups of tubes without interruption of the flow of normal process fluid through all of the tubes, and a detector for sampling process fluid normally flowing through the chamber for the presence of tracer fluid, the detection of tracer fluid being indicative of a leak and the capability of controllably releasing tracer fluid to the tubes permitting the localization of which specific tube is leaking.

  • Patent number: 4226113
Abstract: The detection of leaks in tubes, particularly cooling tubes in a steam condenser, is disclosed herein. In accomplishing this, a discrete amount of helium or similar tracer gas is initially directed into the front ends of the tubes while, at the same time, this gas is prevented from escaping into the ambient surroundings. Thereafter, the gas is drawn or otherwise moved by positive force through the tubes to the backends thereof, causing a portion of the gas to escape through leaks in the tubes, if any such leaks exist. The escaping gas, if any, is detected to indicate the presence of a leak and, at the same time, the non-escaping tracer gas reaching the backends of the tubes is captured and directed to a remote location.

  • Patent number: 4117954
Abstract: A plurality of metering conveyors for individual constituents of a mixture is arranged in conjunction with a single discharge conveyor. A drive means comprising a motor and transmission means simultaneously drive the discharge conveyor and is successively connected to each of the metering conveyors. A speed variator is interposed between each metering conveyor and the transmission means for individual control of each of the metering conveyors during operation.
