  • Patent number: 4452318
Abstract: An implement having a tool equipped tool bar with a central horizontal section, a wing pivotally mounted to each end of the central section, a hydraulic cylinder mounted on the central section for each wing and connected with the wing to move the wing from a working position in general alignment with the central section to a folded storage, or transport position on the central section, a pair of spaced front support structures for the central section in the storage position and a support stand mounted on the wing, the support stand in the wing folded storage position extending downwardly and rearwardly of the tools to support the rear of the implement.

  • Patent number: 4418763
Abstract: A tool bar having a hollow central section and oppositely extending offset hinged wings movable from a generally horizontal, transversely extending working position to a folded transport position. A hydraulic cylinder is positioned in the central section adjacent each wing and has its rod end pivotally connected to a pair of sliders below their center position for an effective lever action about the offset hinge with the sliders substantially spanning the hollow central section. The rod end is also pivotally connected to a pair of links via a slotted connection, with the links also being pivotally connected to the ear of a wing. The sliders reduce wing fall as the cylinder moves the wing from the working position approximately 180.degree. to a transport position on top of the central section or vice versa. The slotted link connection prevents binding of the sliders against the central section during the procedures.

  • Patent number: 4398608
Abstract: A hoe that includes a transversely extending tool bar, a pivot shaft mounted on the rear and lower portion of the tool bar and extending parallel thereto, a plurality of support arms spaced along the tool bar and pivotally mounted on the shaft, each arm having a forward portion for engaging the tool bar and a rearward portion for rotatably supporting a hoe wheel, a spring extending between each arm and the tool bar to bias the hoe wheel downwardly with each arm forward portion providing a stop with the tool bar to dispose the hoe wheels in the same operative position, and each arm having a hub pivotally mounted on the pivot shaft and including preferably a plurality of elongated grooves extending parallel and adjacent the shaft the full length of the hub and a lower drain in communication with the grooves to remove soil moving between hub and shaft to free the arm and thus hoe wheel for movement by the spring.

  • Patent number: 4336846
Abstract: A tool bar having a hollow central section and oppositely extending offset hinged wings movable from a generally horizontally transversely extending working position to a folded transport position. A hydraulic cylinder is positioned in the central section adjacent each wing and has its rod pivotally connected to a pair of rollers substantially spanning the hollow central section and to a pair of links via a slotted connection, with the links also being pivotally connected to the ear of a wing. The rollers reduce wing fall as the wing moves from the working position approximately 180.degree. to a transport position on top of the central section or vice versa. The slotted link connection prevents binding of the rollers against the central section during the procedures.

  • Patent number: 4151886
Abstract: A folding sectional tool bar for agricultural implements and including a series of articulated hollow sections connected together in end-to-end fashion so as to provide an inner main-section, a pair of outer sections, and a pair of intermediate sections. An offset hinge joint between each outer section and its adjacent intermediate section permits them to be latched in an aligned working arrangement and allows generally horizontal folding of the outer sections forwardly relative to the adjacent intermediate sections. An offset hinge joint between each intermediate section and its adjacent main section permits the intermediate sections to float down about 5.degree. relative to the main section and allows vertical folding of the intermediate sections relative to such main section. Hydraulic two-stage cylinders are provided whereby an initial partial fold of 5.degree. intermediate sections can elevate them relative to the inner main section to an angle of about 5.degree.

  • Patent number: 4030551
Abstract: A folding tool bar for agricultural implements and including a central section and outboard wing sections hingedly connected thereto for movement between extended operative lowered positions where they may follow rolling ground conditions and folded over-center raised positions to reduce transport width. Each wing section is actuated by a two-stage hydraulic cylinder on the central section which cooperates with a crank arm on such wing section during its first stage to apply torque to the crank arm through the medium of a draw link by a pulling action in tension, assisted by a powerful camming action, the two forces serving to raise the wing so that it barely clears the ground at a small angle on the order of 5.degree., thereby enabling the implement to perform a turnabout motion with the tools withdrawn from the ground but with the wing remaining unfolded. An abutment within the cylinder positively terminates the first stage of operation and determines the 5.degree.

  • Patent number: 4026365
Abstract: A transversely and linearly elongated tractionally supported tool-carrying frame for agricultural implements having caster wheels which are shiftable individually and vertically relative to the frame to move the latter, and consequently the tools, between raised inoperative and lower earth-working positions. A central tractor hitch on the frame enables the latter to be pulled in broadside fashion forwardly for earth-working purposes when the frame and tools are in their lowered earth-working positions, and a second tractor hitch at one end of the frame enables the latter to be pulled linearly sidewise for transport purposes when the frame and tools are raised. A salient feature of the invention resides in a novel arrangement for automatically latching one of the caster wheels against free caster trailing during such sidewise transport movement of the implement to thereby lend a stabilizing influence to the implement and inhibit side sway.

  • Patent number: 3982773
Abstract: A tractor drawn agricultural implement of the folding wing type having right and left toolbar frames, the inner ends of which are pivoted to a tongue or drawbar for horizontal swinging movement about closely spaced vertical axes between extended operative positions of end-to-end alignment and folded positions wherein the frames lie close to each other in trailing relationship with respect to the drawbar. The outer ends of the frames are independently supported upon lift wheels of the caster type which do not leave the ground during swinging movement of the frames. A hydraulic cylinder on the drawbar has a plunger which operates through the medium of a pair of thrust links to swing the frames between their two extreme positions. Latch means normally maintains the frames extended but a cam element on the plunger trips the latch means at the commencement of the plunger stroke, thereby freeing the frames for movement to their folded positions.
