    Abstract: 1. In a mooring device for an aerial launched mine adapted to be dropped into a body of water, in combination, a buoyant member, a casing releasably locked to said member and separable therefrom upon impact of the device with the water, locking means including a plurality of detents carried by said casing for releasably locking the casing to said member, impact responsive means mounted on the casing for releasing said locking means in response to said impact, and a length of mooring cable arranged to be payed out as the casing separates from said member and sinks to the bed of the body of water for mooring the mine beneath the surface of the water.
