  • Publication number: 20240159956
Abstract: In some embodiments, a head-mounted, near-eye display system comprises a stack of waveguides having integral spacers separating the waveguides. The waveguides may each include diffractive optical elements that are formed simultaneously with the spacers by imprinting. The spacers are disposed on one major surface of each of the waveguides and indentations are provided on an opposite major surface of each of the waveguides. The indentations are sized and positioned to align with the spacers, thereby forming a self-aligned stack of waveguides. Tops of the spacers may be provided with light scattering features, anti-reflective coatings, and/or light absorbing adhesive to prevent light leakage between the waveguides. As seen in a top-down view, the spacers may be elongated along the same axis as the diffractive optical elements. The waveguides may include structures (e.g.

  • Publication number: 20240146977
Abstract: A set-top box with enhanced features and system and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment of the set-top box, the set-top box is deployed to provide an interactive portal in a hospitality establishment having multiple rooms, such as a hotel. The set-top box generates a default interactive portal as well as a guest-specific interactive portal, which is generated from a guest configuration profile having information including guest identification, a guest channel preference presentation, and a guest service preference presentation with guest account information. The guest configuration profile may also enable the creation of a local area wireless network with substantially the same behavior as the guest's home wireless network. The guest configuration profile may further enable the control of in-room amenities, such as temperature control, lighting, shades, and availability, for example.

  • Patent number: 11967250
Abstract: Disclosed is an eye simulator device, wherein same is a medical training aid and includes: an eyepiece having a display configured to project at least one image onto or through a convex shaped front surface of a simulated eyeball of the eyepiece; a support configured to hold the eyepiece; a simulated eyelid pivotally attached to the support; and an actuator assembly having an actuator arm and an electromagnetic (EM) coil in connection with the actuator arm, so as to control a motion of the simulated eyelid, which allows to more realistically mimic the eye, and to more intuitively mimic a motion change of the eye, and it is illustratable to show a change process of the eye by projecting an eye condition, making it easier for a student to understand.

  • Publication number: 20090029339
Abstract: The present invention is a system and method that proactively identifies a student in need at an educational institution. The system allows for the educational institution to connect with the student, gather information, and provide assistance. Student needs that may be addressed are various and include academic, social, emotional, and spiritual. Because student needs are addressed in a timely and effective manner, the present invention may be used as a tool to increase retention rates at the educational institution.

  • Patent number: 5201449
Abstract: A pneumatically powered or combustion-powered fastener-driving tool for driving a fastener having a head into a gap between two brick faces affixed to a backing board in a siding panel. A workpiece-contacting element is adapted to contact the raised surfaces and is biased toward an extended position. A probe extending into the gap when the workpiece-contacting element contacts the brick faces and is moved into a retracted position is joined to such element so as to be conjointly movable therewith. A nosepiece, which guides the fastener as it is driven, is configured to extend into the gap, beyond the workpiece-contacting element when such element is moved into the retracted position.

  • Patent number: 5111007
Abstract: A switch lock is provided including a lock plug rotatable by a key between two or more positions within a lock barrel, and a switch is associated therewith such that one switch pole is selectively placed in one or more positions by the plug. A visual switch position indicator includes a second switch pole in the switch with a power source connected thereto, and an LED visible from the lock forward end has its leads connected to a terminal for selective connection to a power source in response to the position of the lock plug. The LED leads are flexible, disposed in a groove in the rear face of the lock bezel, and pass through a space between the lock barrel and the opening in the mounting plate. The switch wires are fixed to a connector and are protected by a shrink tube over the switch.
