  • Patent number: 6279435
Abstract: A multi-purpose hand tool which includes a handle body with a plurality of drive tools mounted on an axis at one end allowing various tools such as hex tools, screwdriver tools, torx tools and others to rotate for use. Pivoting folding wingbars are affixed to the handle by an axis to give additional torque to the drive tools. At the opposite end of the drive tools in the handle is a square opening to receive various independent hand and power ratchet drives. The tool incorporates lifting levers which are affixed to the handle by an axis. The levers when depressed toward the folding tool will lift the drive tools away from the handle to provide easier selection of a particular drive tool. A second embodiment has a ratchet mechanism assembly with two folding wingbars which eliminate the need for an independent ratchet handle or driver.

  • Patent number: 6092443
Abstract: A universal socket tool for rotating a fastener element includes a rigid housing comprising a conventional socket casing having a polygonal shaped longitudinal chamber, the chamber having an end wall at its upper end and an open lower end. An array of primary engagement pins, each having upper and lower ends, are longitudinally oriented in the chamber. A pair of spaced apart, secondary engagement pins, each having upper and lower ends, are also longitudinally oriented in the chamber with the primary engagement pins disposed therebetween. The secondary engagement pins are preferably triangular in cross-section so as to fill the polygonal cavity of the housing. Springs are provided for attaching the primary and secondary engagement pins to the upper end of the chamber of the housing. In a second embodiment, a sleeve-type suspension mechanism is provided for positively securing the pins to the housing so that the pins cannot be pulled out of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5845413
Abstract: A note pad holder is secured to a tape measure of the type including a box-shaped housing having a planar front wall, a planar back wall which is parallel to and spaced from the front wall, a top wall, a bottom wall, and a pair of end walls. A tape reel is provided within the housing for dispensing tape through a horizontal aperture formed in one of the end walls. The note pad holder includes a flexible sleeve sized to fit snugly over the front, back, top and bottom walls of the housing of the tape measure. The note pad holder further includes a pocket formed on the sleeve in a position in which it is adjacent one of the front and back walls. The pocket is sized for receiving therein a note pad. Other embodiments of the note pad holder are further contemplated.

  • Patent number: 5460064
Abstract: A universal socket tool includes a housing having a square internal chamber which is open at a lower end thereof. An array of square pins is suspended in sliding relation in the chamber with the lower ends of the pins arranged for engagement with a plurality of different fastening elements. Selected pins include tapered lower ends for engagement with a slotted screw heads. The pin suspension system includes upper and lower plates mounted in spaced relation in the chamber. The plates have aligned apertures for slidably receiving the upper ends of the pins. A flange at the top of each pin is positioned above the upper plate and a lower end of each pin is located below the lower plate. Each pin is provided with a spring disposed around its upper end for returning the pins to their normal position after disengaging the fastening element.

  • Patent number: 4850880
Abstract: A device having two separate sets of contacts and a pivotal axis allowing 360.degree. of rotational freedom between the two sets of contacts. The device is designed to provide the release of radial mechanical energy, stored in a coiled cord due to repeated twisting action, and imparted to the cord from the device attached to the cord. The device provides for continuous electrical connection between the two sets of contacts, by providing unique rotary contacts which allow interruption-free electrical continuity during the full 360.degree. of rotation. The device provides for a minimal degree of friction, to allow for the rapid and thorough release of radial energy, and also provides minimum contact-wear, to allow for optimum electrical continuity and to provide for a long, useful life.
