  • Patent number: 4626196
Abstract: A gas burner assembly includes a metal burner body with main burner ports formed in a sidewall containing an internal fuel chamber. An electrically conductive burner top member overlies the burner body. The top member and body are electrically isolated from one another and are spaced apart to define an ignition gas pathway extending from the internal chamber to an ignition region above the main burner ports. A spark ignition circuit includes a spark gap in series circuit relationship between the burner body and the top member. Fuel supplied to the fuel chamber flows through the ignition gas pathway, is ignited by sparking at the spark gap and in turn ignites fuel flowing from the main burner ports.

  • Patent number: 4553523
Abstract: An adjustable grate includes first and second identical grate members each with first and second parallel supports. A plurality of upper and lower elements are secured to and extend perpendicularly to the parallel supports providing a space between the upper and lower elements. The grate is assembled by positioning the second support of each grate member between the upper and lower elements of the opposing grate member. The width of the grate is adjusted by sliding the first and second grate members together or apart. The length of the grate is adjusted by moving an upper end of the first grate member above the upper end of the second grate member until the distance between the upper end of the first grate member and the lower end of the second grate member is the desired length. First and second extension members are then positioned between the first and second supports and the upper and lower elements of each grate member.

  • Patent number: 4055132
Abstract: A method of forming ports in a fuel burner wherein the ports are formed in a single stroke employing a tool having a plurality of punch members arranged in an array corresponding to the configuration of the burner body that may be a complex shape. The burner body and tool structure are supported for relative movement toward and away from each other. The tool structure and body are moved toward one another to form the array of ports in the burner body in a single relative motion. This motion is terminated before the material punched by the tool is severed from the burner body.
