Patent number: 9355366Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for measuring audience response to a presentation such as an advertisement. Software is trained using a feedback loop to correlate biometric data, such as eye tracking, facial recognition, or pupil dilation, with emotion, attention, memory, and/or meaning remembered by a viewer as measured by methods related to the Picture Sorts technique. The trained software then enables a device that uses biometric measurement to detect and measure such qualities in a viewer as the presentation is being viewed. In this way, unlike existing systems, the attention, memory and both primary and compound emotions of the viewer can be measured, enabling key moments of the presentation to be detected.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2012Date of Patent: May 31, 2016Assignee: HELLO-HELLO, INC.Inventor: Charles E. Patent number: 6447239Abstract: A combination tilting bed carrier and attached wheel-lift apparatus mounted on a chassis of a towing vehicle. The bed carrier includes a first pivot connected to the chassis and a first motive element extending between the chassis and the bed carrier for actuating tilting of the bed carrier about the first pivot. A wheel-lift is positioned below the bed carrier and includes a second pivot for pivotally connecting the wheel-lift to the chassis, with the first pivot and the second pivot concentrically, or substantially concentrically, aligned with each other. A second motive element extends between the wheel-lift and the bed carrier for actuating tilting of the wheel-lift about the second pivot. The second pivot may include a third motive element which may adjust the second pivot point, and which in conjunction with the second motive element, allows the wheel-lift to conform with either a positive or negative ground surface.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2000Date of Patent: September 10, 2002Assignee: Jerr-Dan, CorporationInventors: Charles E. Patent number: 6336783Abstract: An improved wheel-lift apparatus attachable to various types of transport trucks, including rollback trucks for loading and carrying disabled vehicles. The improved wheel-lift apparatus provides a horizontal extendable boom mechanism long enough for receiving disabled vehicles. As a result of the wheel-lift's “low angle” or horizontal approach, the risk of damage occurring to the chassis or body of the disabled vehicle while in the loading and carrying modes is greatly diminished.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1999Date of Patent: January 8, 2002Assignee: Jerr-Dan CorporationInventors: Charles E. Patent number: 6315515Abstract: The present invention relates to a wheel grid assembly and vehicle towing apparatus. The wheel grid assembly includes a wheel boom and a pair of lift arms. Each lift arm consists of an extension arm segment and an engaging arm segment pivotally mounted to the extension arm segment. Each engaging arm segment consists of an actuating arm segment and a gripping arm segment extending in opposite directions from the pivot point. A pair of linear actuators rotate the engaging arm segments about their pivot points to engage the wheels of a vehicle to be towed. Each linear actuator is attached to a respective engaging arm segment through an over-center locking mechanism. The over-center locking mechanisms lock the engaging arm segments in wheel engaging positions without aid of force from the linear actuators. The present invention also relates to a position lock mechanism and a wheel grid self-centering device.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 1997Date of Patent: November 13, 2001Assignee: Jerr-Dan CorporationInventors: Charles E. Patent number: 6238213Abstract: A suction oral care device with a head having opposite scrub elements. The scrub elements are dissimilar to one another, one of the scrub elements comprising bristles and the other comprising a foam pad. A suction port communicates with each scrub element, each suction port leading to a suction end of the device. A suction outlet, separate from the suction ports, also extends from the cleansing head. The suction ports and the suction outlet provide three separate locations for suctioning so that even if two become clogged, a third is available.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2000Date of Patent: May 29, 2001Assignee: Sage Products, Inc.Inventors: Charles E. Patent number: 5515970Abstract: An improved light-tight package for a roll (10) of a length (14) light-sensitive material such as photographic film or paper includes an opaque leader (22) wound around the roll. Folded-over portions (48, 50) of opaque end disks (32, 34) are held in place by adhesive tape strips (44, 46). Upon unrolling one embodiment of the package by pulling the leader, the end disks release from the adhesive strips without tearing; and the adhesive strips remain attached to the leader and are removed from the roll with the leader. Upon unrolling another embodiment, the end disks tear circumferentially and the torn-away portions are removed with the tape strips and the leader.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 1995Date of Patent: May 14, 1996Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Shawn W. Patent number: 4889987Abstract: A charged particle spectrometer for performing ultrasensitive quantitative analysis of selected atomic components removed from a sample. Significant improvements in performing energy and angular refocusing spectroscopy are accomplished by means of a two dimensional structure for generating predetermined electromagnetic field boundary conditions. Both resonance and non-resonance ionization of selected neutral atomic components allow accumulation of increased chemical information. A multiplexed operation between a SIMS mode and a neutral atomic component ionization mode with EARTOF analysis enables comparison of chemical information from secondary ions and neutral atomic components removed from the sample. An electronic system is described for switching high level signals, such as SIMS signals, directly to a transient recorder and through a charge amplifier to the transient recorder for a low level signal pulse counting mode, such as for a neutral atomic component ionization mode.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1987Date of Patent: December 26, 1989Assignee: ARCH Development CorporationInventors: Dieter M. Gruen, Charles E. Young, Michael J. Pellin

Patent number: 4864130Abstract: A method and apparatus for extracting for quantitative analysis ions of selected atomic components of a sample. A lens system is configured to provide a slowly diminishing field region for a volume containing the selected atomic components, enabling accurate energy analysis of ions generated in the slowly diminishing field region. The lens system also enables focusing on a sample of a charged particle beam, such as an ion beam, along a path length perpendicular to the sample and extraction of the charged particles along a path length also perpendicular to the sample. Improvement of signal to noise ratio is achieved by laser excitation of ions to selected autoionization states before carrying out quantitative analysis. Accurate energy analysis of energetic charged particles is assured by using a preselected resistive thick film configuration disposed on an insulator substrate for generating predetermined electric field boundary conditions to achieve for analysis the required electric field potential.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 1986Date of Patent: September 5, 1989Assignee: Arch Development CorporationInventors: Dieter M. Gruen, Charles E. Young, Michael J. Pellin
