  • Publication number: 20110306048
Abstract: Methods of predicting the phenotype of a trait in a bovine subject are provided. The methods include obtaining information about polynucleotide sequences specifically regarding the identity of the nucleotides present at one or more identified single nucleotide polymorphisms and using this information to make predictions regarding the trait in the subject. Also provided are kits for and methods of determining the nucleotide present in a bovine subject at a position in which a single nucleotide polymorphism is correlated with a trait.
    Type: Application
    Filed: August 17, 2011
    Publication date: December 15, 2011
Applicant: The Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas
    Inventor: Charles F. Rosenkrans, JR.

  • Patent number: 5952222
Abstract: A method of preparing a recipient oocyte from a target zona-intact or zona-free oocyte by centrifuging the oocyte against a density gradient material to force the chromosomal material to pass through the cytoplasmic membrane.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 2, 1996
Date of Patent: September 14, 1999
Assignee: The Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas
Inventors: Charles F. Rosenkrans, Jr., Eddie J. Wagoner
  • Patent number: 5453366
Abstract: An improved method of cloning mammalian embryos by transferring a nucleus from a donor mammalian embryo to an enucleated recipient oocyte and culturing the nuclear transferred bovine embryo in vitro is described. The improvement includes positioning the donor embryo nucleus adjacent to the enucleated recipient oocyte, and maintaining the nucleus and oocyte in a maintenance medium for a time sufficient to mature the cytoplasm of the enucleated recipient oocyte prior to fusing the donor nucleus to the recipient oocyte.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 15, 1993
Date of Patent: September 26, 1995
Inventors: Michele M. Sims, Charles F. Rosenkrans, Jr.
  • Patent number: 5096822
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a bovine embryo culture medium. The medium includes a culture solution containing the nutritional substances necessary to support a bovine embryo. One of the nutritional substances is hemicalcium lactate in an amount effective to maintain the health and viability of the bovine embryo. The culture medium is a preferred nuclear transfer medium.
