  • Patent number: 8607708
Abstract: An improved apparatus and method for fitting a normally non-explosive containing projectile with a spotting charge. A spotting charge capsule is inserted into an opening in the front of a projectile. The opening may be made by removing part of the nose of the projectile and making a shaped opening for inserting the spotting charge capsule. The spotting charge capsule includes an opening at its front and a bore behind the opening leading to a cavity for holding an explosive mixture, usually one or more pressed incendiary pellets. The opening and bore together form a venturi, or venturi-like, tube. The tube ends short of the cavity leaving only a thin wall between the bore and the explosive. On impact on soft media, such as dirt, sand or mud, the soft media will enter the tube and shear the thin wall, creating a high speed flier plate that ignites the explosive mixture.

  • Patent number: 5062486
Abstract: A firefighter's barrier penetrator and agent injector having an extendible slide rod to guide a slide hammer to strike a penetrating body to drive its point through the barrier. The slide rod can be retracted into the body to minimize the length of the penetrator while being carried. A nozzle is slidably mounted in the body to be extendible into the structure for injection purposes, again to minimize the carrying length. Retention devices releasably hold the rod and nozzle in their retracted positions.

  • Patent number: H1891
Abstract: A new apparatus for displaying and recording an image viewed by a marksman or shooter through a weapon sight is described. A beam splitter is mounted at the eye end of the weapon sight and bends part of the image intended for the shooter 900.degree. to a righting prism which bends the image another 900.degree., for a total of 180.degree.. The image from the righting prism is directed to the input of a miniature video camera mounted over and parallel with the weapon sight. The video camera transmits the image to a remote miniature video display and to a remote video recorder. By bending the image a total of 180.degree., the video camera can be mounted in a low profile position over the weapon sight such that the overall balance of the weapon is minimally upset.
