  • Patent number: 6196252
Abstract: The present invention provides a shuttle valve for a multipath hydraulic circuit comprising a valve body having a main passage extending along an axis and having a uniform inner periphery. The shuttle valve further has a slider valve positioned within the main passage which has a first section adjacent and attached to a second section. The first section has a first outer periphery substantially similar to the inner periphery of the main passage such that the first section of the slider valve and the main passage substantially prevent fluid flow therebetween. The first outer periphery extends a predetermined length which is shorter than the intersection length. The second section has a second outer periphery with a recessed portion being recessed from the outer periphery of the main passage such that fluid is able to pass between the second section and the inner periphery of the main passage.

  • Patent number: 6161577
Abstract: A solenoid assembly for an automatic transmission of a motor vehicle. The solenoid assembly includes a housing, a valve, an armature and an electromagnetic device. The valve is mounted within the housing. The valve is operative in a vented state and a non-vented state and includes a plunger and ball combination movable between a first position for establishing the vented state and a second position for establishing the non-vented state. The armature is associated with the valve and is movable in response to the presence and absence of a magnetic field for selectively moving the plunger and ball combination between the first and second positions. The electromagnetic device is operative for creating the magnetic field. The electromagnetic device includes a core and an energizable coil. The core has an upwardly extending outer post with a generally rectangular cross section in a horizontal plane. The energizable coil defines an opening for receiving the first upwardly extending outer post.

  • Patent number: 6155137
Abstract: An adjustable solenoid assembly having a solenoid manifold and a first pair of rods mounted to the solenoid manifold. The solenoid assembly further includes a plate member having a pair of slots for receiving the first pair of rods. The pair of slots cooperates with the pair of rods to enable the solenoid manifold to be translated to a fixed position relative to the plate member and enable dimensional variations between the first pair of rods to be accommodated.

  • Patent number: 6138713
Abstract: A solenoid assembly for an automatic transmission of a motor vehicle. The solenoid assembly includes a housing having a core opening passing vertically therethrough. A valve is mounted within the housing. The valve is operative in a vented state and a non-vented state. The valve includes a plunger movable between a first position for establishing the vented state and a second position for establishing the non-vented state. An armature is associated with the valve and is movable in response to the presence and absence of a magnetic field for selectively moving the plunger between the first and second positions. An electromagnetic arrangement for creating the magnetic field includes a core and an energizable coil. The core is inserted into the core opening from an underside of the housing. A first retaining member retains a portion of the core against the underside of the housing. A variable transducer is used to establish a reference plane including two upper surfaces of the coil.

  • Patent number: 6095941
Abstract: An overrunning clutch assembly for an automatic transmission having a plurality of planetary gear sets. The overrunning clutch assembly includes an inner race and an outer race. The outer race radially surround the inner race. The overrunning clutch assembly further includes a plurality of rollers disposed between the inner race and the outer race for permitting relative rotation between the inner race and the outer race in a first direction and limiting relative rotation between the inner race and the outer race in a second direction. The outer race includes a radially extending portion extending radially inward beyond an outer periphery of the inner race. The radially extending portion cooperates with the inner race to react a thrust load generated by the plurality of gear sets.

  • Patent number: 6066066
Abstract: The present invention relates to a transmission for an automotive vehicle having a clutch retainer assembly or thrust bulkhead fixedly secured to the transmission housing and interdisposed between the reverse clutch assembly and the fourth clutch assembly. A pair of thrust bearing assemblies are interdisposed between the clutch assemblies and the thrust bulkhead to transfer the axial thrust loads generated by the multiple planetary gear assemblies through the thrust bulkhead to the transmission housing.
