  • Patent number: 4700841
Abstract: A method and configuration for packing flexible, flat packages in a carton for easy removal includes stacking the packages in a stack which has a height that is less than its length or width, placing the stack in a plastic bag within the carton on edge so that the stack fits loosely between the sides of the carton, and rotating the plastic bag and stack so that the packages lay flat in the carton and the neck of the plastic bag wraps around the stack.

  • Patent number: 4610142
Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling the operating temperatures and differential temperature of a curie effect temperature sensing switch is disclosed. The temperature switch is adapted to provide temperature control of a cold plate in a reagent refrigerator. The temperature switch activates cold plate cooling devices when the cold plate temperature is above a first operating temperature and deactivates the cold plate cooling devices when the cold plate temperature is below a second operating temperature. An electromagnet is fixed external of and relative to the temperature switch so that the strength of the external magnetic field sets the operating temperatures of the temperature switch. A potentiometer is used to incrementally vary the current supplied to the electromagnet to thereby incrementally adjust the strength of the external magnetic field and the operating temperatures.

  • Patent number: 4551935
Abstract: A display panel is provided for the major obverse face of a vending machine in which contrasting panels provide the suggestion of a container of primary product in combination with a vending control array presenting that primary product in dominance of a plurality of secondary products to be vended so as to induce predominate selection of the primary product. The contrasting panels further provide a superimposed alphanumeric or other display configuration on the display panel to further enhance the dominant presence of the primary product.

  • Patent number: 4502215
Abstract: Individual ones of articles such as (LED) devices 10 are fed and positioned at one or more stations along a path traversed by the devices. A track 30 guidably advances the devices 10 in single file to and beyond stations 63 and 64 successively located along the path represented by a channel 35 in the track 30. An assembly 50 shuttles, transversely of the channel 35, a plurality of fingers 66-70 simultaneously from a working state to and from a transitory state with respect to devices 10 in channel 35. The fingers may be in the form of thin, upright blades 66-70 which are engaged to assembly 50 and extend substantially normally of and into channel 35 in response to the shuttling. An indexing blade 68 extends from the front of and into channel 35 when shuttling assembly 50 is in the working state to block a waiting file of devices 10.

  • Patent number: 4454670
Abstract: A display panel for a vending machine including the capability of adding promotions, advertising, and special equipment such as electronic and video games to the existing vending machine. A utility module for containing one of these devices is located on the display panel of the vending machine and is so positioned so that it optimizes a combination of criteria including space, circuitry location, a prominent spot for display purposes and a location enabling easy retrofit of the utility module into a vending machine unit.

  • Patent number: 4449761
Abstract: A frosted logo is provided on the transparent surface of a door panel of a display type refrigeration unit. The logo is positioned such that is appears to be superimposed over the products within the unit thus conveying the effect of coolness associated with the product stored therein. The frost logo effect is achieved by a screen printing technique.

  • Patent number: 4394602
Abstract: An enclosed electrical device (42) includes an electrical circuit (50) having elements (48-68) which lie substantially in and along a plane (115). A member (70) is applied to a one side and a member (85) is applied to another side of the circuit (50) for at least partially enclosing the same. Conductors (48) and (49) of circuit (50) are fixedly penetrated, preferably by pins (74) which are fixedly engaged to enclosure members (70) and (85). Such engagement is advantageously provided by making the pins (74) an integral part of member (70), for example by including pins (74) in a premolded member (70). Such engagement is also advantageously provided by making pin-engaging sockets (94) an integral part of member (85), also for example by including the sockets (94) in a premolded member (85). By a preferred friction fit of pins (74) and sockets (94), the enclosure members (70) and (85 ) and circuit elements (48-68) are sufficiently fixed relative to one another to resist forces applied thereto in service.
