  • Patent number: 5202509
Abstract: The catalysts according to the invention are mixtures of an antimony trihalide and of a titanium tetrahalide. These catalysts can be used for the liquid phase fluorination of halogenated aliphatic hydrocarbons, especially that of chlorinated ethane and ethylene derivatives.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 20, 1992
Date of Patent: April 13, 1993
    Assignee: Societe Atochem
    Inventors: Charles Laviron, Andre Lantz
  • Patent number: 4981932
Abstract: The invention pertains to a perfluorated ionic polymer. This polymer is prepared starting with polymers presenting carboxylic groupings, these groupings being transformed in reactive entities which are later eliminated. These membranes are particularly suitable for electrolysis of alkalin halogens.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 1988
Date of Patent: January 1, 1991
    Assignee: Atochem
Inventors: Jean Blaise, Michel Jaccaud, Charles Laviron, Henri Mathais, Dominique Ravier, Francis Leroux
  • Patent number: 4943654
Abstract: Process for the preparation of .alpha.-acetoxy-.alpha.-methyl-N,N'-diacetylmalonamide wherein hydrocyanic acid or a cyanide is reacted in a first step with acetic anhydride and then in a second step the reaction mixture so obtained is treated with acetic acid in the presence of an acid catalyst, wherein the first step is carried out in the presence of a catalyst based on anion exchange resins in which the functional groups are quaternary ammonium or tertiary amine, such .alpha.-acetoxy-.alpha.-methyl-N,N'-diacetylmalonamides being very useful as activators in bleaching and cleaning compositions which are thus active at lower temperatures.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 15, 1986
Date of Patent: July 24, 1990
    Assignee: Produits Chimiques Ugine Kuhlmann
    Inventors: Bernard Dubreux, Charles Laviron
  • Patent number: 4853141
Abstract: The invention relates to new polyfluorinated compounds which are usable as anti-wear additives for lubricants. These compounds are of general formula: ##STR1## in which R.sub.F is a perfluoroalkyl radical, R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 each denote a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radical, R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 each denote a hydrogen atom or an acyl residue, m equals 0 or 1 and X denotes a hydrogen atom or a 2-hydroxy-1-phenylethyl group. They are prepared by hydrogenation of amino alcohols of formula:R.sub.F --CF.dbd.CH--CH.sub.2 --NH--CH.sub.2 CH(R.sub.1)--OHfollowed, where appropriate, by a reaction with an epoxide and/or an esterification.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 10, 1988
Date of Patent: August 1, 1989
    Assignee: Societe ATOCHEM
Inventors: Pierre Durual, Marc Hermant, Charles Laviron
  • Patent number: 4520006
Abstract: A process for the purification of by-product sulfuric acid resulting from the synthesis of boron trifluoride, wherein the ratio of fluorine to boron is three or more, which process comprises entraining the by-product acid in an inert gas, the process being characterized in that before entrainment the anhydrous sulfuric acid is diluted with water in a proportion of from about one to about ten percent by weight of water with respect to the acid to be treated, the temperature being maintained above 90.degree. C., the sulfuric acid obtained containing less than 0.003% fluorine and less than 0.005% boron, so that the quality is substantially equivalent to a sulfuric acid directly obtained by the oxidation of sulfur.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 17, 1983
Date of Patent: May 28, 1985
Inventors: Charles Laviron, Henri Lecouls, Louis Mesaros
