  • Publication number: 20090274710
Abstract: Cell suicide (apoptosis) is associated with pathogenesis, for example, it is the major cause for the loss of neurons in Alzheimer's disease. Caspase-3 is critically involved in the pathway of apoptosis. Superantibody (SAT)-trans-membrane technology has been used to produce antibodies against the caspase enzyme in an effort to inhibit apoptosis in living cells. The advantage of using trans-membrane antibodies as apoptosis inhibitors is their specific target recognition in the cell and their lower toxicity compared to conventional apoptosis inhibitors. It is shown that a MTS-transport-peptide modified monoclonal anti-caspase-3 antibody reduces actinomycin D-induced apoptosis and cleavage of spectrin in living cells. These results indicate that antibodies conjugated to a membrane transporter peptide have a therapeutic potential to inhibit apoptosis in a variety of diseases.

  • Patent number: 7505972
Abstract: A method and system for dynamic assignment of entitlements is provided. A trigger is received from an identity store. A membership generator generates a list of members from user objects stored in the identity store. The generated list is compared against a previously generated list for changes. The changes are placed into an attribute modify specification, an entitlement grant specification, and an entitlement revoked specification. Using these specifications, a policy decision module routes the changes to policy enforcement modules. The policy enforcement modules implement the changes to entitlements.

  • Patent number: 7416728
Abstract: There is disclosed anti-receptor and growth blocking agents to the vitamin B12/transcobalamin II receptor and binding sites. The anti-receptor and growth blocking agents antagonize or modulate the vitamin B12/transcobalamin II receptor or binding sites, causing cellular depletion of vitamin B12, thus inhibiting cell division or causing apoptosis. Anti-receptor and growth blocking agents of the present invention include proteins (such as antibodies and antibody derivatives), peptides and small organic molecules. In a preferred embodiment, the anti-receptor agent is an antibody to the vitamin B12/transcobalamin II receptor.

  • Publication number: 20060235868
Abstract: A representation of a markup language data such as XML expressed as a sequence of encoded items provides a data format including a type field containing i) a construct type identifying a type of markup language data construct to which the encoded item corresponds or, ii) a directive type identifying directive information concerning a processing characteristic associated with the sequence of encoded items. If the type field contains a construct type, the encoded item includes i) a length field containing a size of construct data associated with the markup language data construct to which the encoded item corresponds and ii) a value field identifying construct data associated with the markup language data construct to which the encoded item corresponds. For a directive type, the encoded item includes a directive value supplementing the directive information concerning a processing characteristic associated with the sequence of encoded items.

  • Publication number: 20060236225
Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatus provide a character process for processing markup language data, such as XML data, by receiving a character stream of markup language data and applying sequences of characters of the character stream to a set of state machines. The set of state machines includes a plurality of construct state machines responsible for processing respective markup language constructs identified by the sequences of characters. The character processor produces, from application of the sequences of characters to the set of state machines, an intermediate representation of the markup language constructs identified by the sequence of characters of the character stream of markup language data. The intermediate representation contains encoded items containing type, length, value representations representative of constructs within the character stream of markup language data.

  • Publication number: 20050126681
Abstract: A composite carpet cushion incorporating a film layer, a foam layer and a fiber layer and a process of forming the composite carpet cushion. The film layer of the composite carpet cushion is a polyethylene film having a lateral dimension in the range of about 0.4 to 3 millimeters. The foam layer is urethane in an amount ranging from about 20 to 90 grams per square foot of the composite carpet cushion. The fiber layer is comprised of natural or synthetic fibers or a combination thereof having a lateral dimension in the range of about {fraction (1/16)} to {fraction (7/16)} inches. The process of forming a composite carpet cushion comprises applying an uncured urethane foam mixture uniformly on a polyethylene film layer. The combination foam and film layer is applied to a fiber layer which is proximate the foam layer. The composite layers are moved through a heated press which compresses the layers and causes the foam layer to react and cure to form a bond with the fiber layer and the film layer.

  • Patent number: 6523041
Abstract: A method for linking data using permanent tokens is disclosed. The tokens may be used to link data pertaining to a consumer, a business, an address, an occupancy, or a household. The tokens are created in a central repository, which maintains an identification class for each entity. The identification class contains all available information concerning the entity. The tokens may be applied to a data storage system to allow real-time construction of a total customer view. The tokens may also be used to link the data storage system to a repository, such that the total customer view contains all available information concerning the customer. The total customer view may be used to formulate a response to customer input, such as a purchase or access to an Internet web page maintained by the data owner. By matching tokens instead of names and addresses, potential ambiguities and erroneous duplicates are eliminated.
