Abstract: The corrosion of ferrous-based metals imbedded in concrete containing a chloride is inhibited by drawing the chlorides away from the metal, and then applying a composition containing ammonium carbamate or ammonium carbonate to the concrete. An agent may be added to the solution to prevent any calcium hydroxide contained in the concrete from precipitating the corrosion inhibitor.

Abstract: Compositions of ammonium carbonate and ammonium bicarbonate that are suitable to apply to ferrous materials to inhibit corrosion by chlorides are disclosed.

Abstract: Ammonium carbamate, in solution with urea, water and ammonia and under high temperature and pressure is cooled to below its crystallization temperature while being subjected to an elevated pressure. The crystallized substance formed is then dried, crushed, and pelletized with the aid of a binding agent to produce pellets having substantial strength and stability, and having particular utility as a deicer for roadways.

Abstract: Compositions of carboxy methyl cellulose and method for treating cured concrete and bituminous concrete, the surfaces of which are subject to the accumulation of water, melting ice and snow, to reduce spalling or degradation of such surfaces when subjected to the freezing and thawing action of the water and water based solutions which are absorbed into the same. A protecting agent is used to maintain the carboxy methyl cellulose in a soluble state when applied to concrete surfaces.
