  • Publication number: 20040134229
Abstract: Articles fabricated from prefabricated strings of beads. The strings of beads are joined perpendicularly by applying pressure such that the cords cross and remain crossed due to the tension in the cords. The strings of beads are thus assembled into a mesh or fabric, two such fabrics being optionally interleaved to form a denser fabric; the strings are also assembled into items so as to fit a person's body or cover some other article. The strings of beads are also formed into loops, and formed into fringes to further adorn the articles. Many colors and styles of strings of beads are assembled, both singly and in combination, and designs are incorporated into the articles, producing multiple appearances. A great variety of articles are produced, including all manner of clothing, flags, bags, containers, novelties, wraps, etc.

  • Patent number: 5872322
Abstract: A method of making a structural iron-based article comprising: (a) blending a compressible base iron powder (max. particle size of 100 microns) a graphite powder to provide carbon in mixture, and a single master alloy powder (average particle size of 10 microns) meltable within the range of 900.degree.-1200.degree. C. (1690.degree.-2220 .degree.F.) to form a mixture, the master alloy powder being present in an amount of 1-5% by weight of the mixture and consisting of (i) hardenability enhancing alloying ingredients selected from Mn, Mo, Ni, Cr, Cu and Fe, with Fe being present only if Cr or Mo is selected and (ii) wetting agents selected from the group of B, Y, Si and rare earth misch metal, the master alloy being devoid of carbon and being proportioned to provide a desired amount of hardenability in the base powder; (b) compacting the mixture to a green density 7.1-7.4 g/cm.sup.

  • Patent number: 5726971
Abstract: An optical disk cartridge assembly comprising: an optical disk for storing data thereon in machine readable form; a casing for rotatably supporting the optical disk therewithin and for shielding the optical disk from physical contact with other objects; and a door slideably mounted on the casing for selectively covering and uncovering an opening therein; the casing having a wear factor associated with sliding contact with the door of less than 100.times.10.sup.-10 in..sup.3 -min./ft.-lb.-hr. and most preferably less than 10.times.10.sup.-10 in..sup.3 -min./ft.-lb.-hr. An information storage system employing a low-wear optical disk cartridge assembly and a method of making a low-wear optical disk cartridge assembly are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4114041
Abstract: In a radiographic apparatus for deriving a representation of the variation of absortion of radiation in a slice of the body of a patient, data are derived which represent the intensity of radiation transmitted through the body. Detectors arranged to receive the transmitted radiation also receive further radiation, scattered within the body, which can cause errors in the final representation. The invention interposes occulting means between the radiation source and some detectors to obtain data representing only scatter to correct the transmission readings of the other detectors. The same detectors may serve both purposes at different times.
