  • Patent number: 7327322
Abstract: A directional antenna is provided that utilizes an existing light source or simple reflector having a beam directing reflective surface and a transparent cover for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic radio waves. In an aspect, an information signal is impressed across a conductive material formed to a transparent cover and the reflective surface directs electromagnetic radio waves in a predetermined direction. Beam pattern, gain, polarization and wavelength can be selected through the design and positioning of the conductive material from the reflective surface for providing an effective resonant antenna. The radiated information signal may be used to detect an object or communicate with a receiver. The light source or reflector can be attached to a fixed structure or to a mobile vehicle. In the case of a mobile vehicle, the antenna is fully concealed. In an aspect, material costs, manufacturing costs and assembly costs are reduced as compared to presently available antennas.

  • Patent number: 7015709
Abstract: Passive balanced probes are disclosed for use with a signal analysis device. The probes are very low cost relative to typical commercially available probes and provide an extremely flat response over a frequency range of approximately 0 to at least 1.5 gigahertz. The probes include a probe body constructed primarily from conventional components, a first surface mount resistor electrically connected between a probe tip and a center conductor, and two surface mount resistors electrically connected and parallel between the center conductor and a conductive shield. The probes further include a coaxial cable for connection to an instrument combiner or other instrument connection device.

  • Patent number: 4222054
Abstract: A printed circuit parallel plate radio frequency lens having a portion of its beam ports formed with a dielectric wedge disposed between a second and third dielectric material. The dielectric constant of the wedge is different from the dielectric constants of the second and third dielectric materials. Energy introduced into such beam port is separated by the dielectric materials and is directed toward array ports of the lens.

  • Patent number: 4127857
Abstract: A multibeam antenna having a radio frequency lens fed by a plurality of feedports is disclosed. The radio frequency lens includes a printed circuit parallel plate region and a polarizer section. The polarizer section includes a plurality of polarizer sheets separated by a plurality of layers of dielectric material, the dielectric constant of the printed circuit parallel plate region and the dielectric constant of the layers of dielectric material being selected to form substantially collimated beams, each one of such beams being associated with a corresponding one of the feedports. With this arrangement, the polarizer section is an integral part of the radio frequency lens, thereby reducing the size of the antenna.
