  • Patent number: 9528316
Abstract: A tornado door comprises a door body having spaced first and second exterior panels and a window panel sized to be oriented within an opening in the door body exterior panels. The door includes a plurality of S-shaped stiffeners spacing the interior sides of the door body first and second exterior panels and positioned about the periphery of the window panel forming a frame. A sealant establishes a seal between the window panel and the plurality of S-shaped stiffeners and between the window panel and the door body first or second exterior panel. The door further includes a cover ring placed on an exterior surface of one of the door body first or second exterior panels and juxtaposed with the plurality of S-shaped stiffeners. The cover ring and plurality of S-shaped stiffeners are intersecured using a plurality of fasteners which pass between the cover ring mounting holes through the door body first or second exterior panel and into the stiffener mounting holes.

  • Publication number: 20160147201
Abstract: Methods, systems and methods for designing a system that provides adaptive control and adaptive predictive filtering using nonlinear components. A system design is described that provides an engineered architecture. This architecture defines a core set of network dynamics that carry out specific functions related to control or prediction. The adaptation systems and methods can be applied to limited areas of he system to allow the system to learn to compensate for unmodeled system dynamics and kinematics. Two types of adaptive modules are described which are configured to account for the unmodeled system dynamics and kinematics.

  • Publication number: 20150210346
Abstract: The invention relates to an arm actuated lever for a multiwheeled cycle. In the preferred embodiment, the invention is a braking system including a braking means associated with one or more of the wheels of the cycle and a brake lever for the purpose of engaging the braking means which is attached to the hand pedal of the bike in a manner that permits the brake lever to be engaged by the operator's wrist or forearm for use by quadriplegics. . The brake lever is further configured to rotate with the hand pedals and crank arms of the cycle which are engaged by the rider's hands through the pedals. The invention permits the cranks to rotate forwardly to deliver power to the wheels and to freewheel in an opposite rotation to permit free coasting. Movement of the operator's wrist and or forearm provides movement to the brake lever engaging the braking means and stopping of the handcycle.

  • Publication number: 20140254466
Abstract: Methods, systems and devices for broadcasting messages of different packet formats in interleaving fashions, wherein a transmitter may broadcast a first packet in a first format configured to be well-suited for a first software implementation of a receiver and broadcast a second packet in a second format that is associated with a second software implementation (e.g., firmware, application, etc.). The receiver may receive and process the first packet to detect information that indicates the presence of messages of the second packet type, adjust the receiver (i.e., change a behavior of the second software implementation) in response to detecting information, receive and process the second packet via the second software implementation, and perform an action based on the processed second packet. In some embodiments, the first and/or second messages may include portions of data that may be combined by the receiver.

  • Publication number: 20140156577
Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatus that provide for perceptual, cognitive, and motor behaviors in an integrated system implemented using neural architectures. Components of the system communicate using artificial neurons that implement neural networks. The connections between these networks form representations—referred to as semantic pointers—which model the various firing patterns of biological neural network connections. Semantic pointers can be thought of as elements of a neural vector space, and can implement a form of abstraction level filtering or compression, in which high-dimensional structures can be abstracted one or more times thereby reducing the number of dimensions needed to represent a particular structure.

  • Publication number: 20110237051
Abstract: A deposition process involves the formation of multicomponent semiconductor layers, in particular III-V epitaxial layers, on a substrate. Due to pyrolytic decomposition inside the reaction chamber, one of the process gases forms a first decomposition product. Together with a second decomposition product of a second process gas, the decomposition products form a layer on the surface of a heated substrate and also adhere to surfaces of the process chamber. To remove these adherences, during an etching step a purge gas containing a reactive substance formed by free radicals is introduced into the process chamber. The etching step may be performed before or after the deposition process.
