    Abstract: Substantially soot free candles are disclosed that incorporate one or more fatty materials (hydrogenated fatty alcohols, free fatty acids (FFA), and/or triglycerides (TG)) having a low Iodine Value (IV). The use of low IV fatty material and proper component percentages results in low soot or soot free compositions that can be blended with paraffin if desired to create very stable, non-sooting or low-sooting candles.
