  • Patent number: 4983487
Abstract: A method for transferring a fixed image, such as an electrographically produced toner image, from an initial substrate to a final substrate. The method employs an adhesive-coated film to lift the image from its initial substrate and to secure it to the final substrate. The film remains in place after the transfer is completed and serves to encapsulate and protect the image. Both the initial substrate and the adhesive-coated film are maintained dry during the process and the initial substrate remains intact and may be reused. Variations of the invention are disclosed whereby background or collage pieces may also be adhered to the adhesive coated film before the film is secured to the final substrate to thereby produce collages and special effects.

  • Patent number: 4596333
Abstract: A sheet holder for releasably restraining a stack of sheets of varying thickness so that operations such as writing or drawing can be performed on the top sheet. The sheets are supported on a stack support shelf secured to a base. A retainer is pivoted to the same base and has a portion which overlies the front edge of a stack of sheets on the support shelf. A rubber band, spring or other elastic member may be provided to apply a force to the retainer urging it into retaining engagement with the stack of sheets and an alignment member acts as a guide to maintain the sheets in the stack in alignment with each other. The elastic member and the alignment member may be the same part. In one embodiment the retainer also serves as a hand rest for a person performing operations on the stack of sheets. A prop or leg may be provided to releasably hold the retainer out of contact with the stack of sheets so that sheets may easily be added or removed.

  • Patent number: 4573821
Abstract: A ring binder-based filing system including enhanced prime storage areas for storing content or information records such as an index, table of contents, glossary, or the like. The two prime storage areas in a ring binder, the Home location inside the front cover and the End location inside the rear cover, are fully exploited by providing means for displaying and protecting the underlying information records while facilitating easy replacement or updating of information records, and by providing a means for rapid access to these prime locations. Two transparent windows are provided at each prime location, one hinged to the respective cover and retained by a magnetic latch system, and the other secured to the binder rings. A Homing Tab extends from an edge of the windows secured to the binder rings and facilitates return from any internal storage location back to either one of the prime locations.
