  • Publication number: 20060179798
Abstract: A form-fill-seal method and apparatus for wrapping food items. A form-fill-seal apparatus includes a shaped seal member and a shaped cutting knife, for example, a curved seal member and a curved cutting knife. Wrapping film is provided to the form-fill-seal machine, e.g., as a flat shape, and formed into another shape. A food item is fed into a pocket of the formed wrapping film. A shaped seal is formed in the wrapping film along a first end of the food item using the shaped seal member and cut adjacent to the shaped seal with the shaped cutting knife.

  • Publication number: 20050150186
Abstract: Methods of making slide-zippered reclosable packages are provided. In one embodiment, a pair of opposing film extensions are provided on each package between which a zipper and slider are attached. In another embodiment, sliders are inserted on to zippered packages output from a form-fill-seal machine or the like. In yet another embodiment, during package formation a reclosable zipper is sealed to each package and then a slider is inserted on to the zipper. In yet another embodiment, during package formation a reclosable zipper is sealed to each package and a slider is inserted on to each zipper, either before or after zipper sealing.

  • Publication number: 20050109772
Abstract: A microwave cooking apparatus, product and method of producing microwaved foods. A microwave cooking apparatus includes a housing with one or more support members, a food item, and a grill having a susceptor coating. The grill supports the food item and is secured by the support members. A gelatinous food ingredient is located in the lower housing section and below the grill. When the ingredient is heated, steam from ingredient rises through apertures in the grill and is applied to the food item to add flavorings, aromas and/or colorings to the food item. A vent in the housing can be adjusted to change the moisture content of the heated food item. The housing can be sealed and evacuated of air or injected with an inert gas to reduce decay and spoilage of the food item therein.

  • Patent number: 6786640
Abstract: The reclosable plastic bag is formed by opposing panels of web with four sides sealed. A zipper is sealed within the bag so that a first zipper profile is sealed to a first opposing panel and a second zipper profile is sealed to a second opposing panel. A slider engaging the zipper profiles in a closed position protrudes from an opening in at least one of the opposing panels and may be further secured in place by a label. The slider cannot be moved from the position wherein the zipper profiles are closed to the position wherein the zipper profiles are open prior to the user tearing a perforated or otherwise weakened line across the panels. When this tear is made, it is unmistakable and intuitive evidence that the bag may have been previously opened and depending upon the circumstances, possibly tampered.

  • Patent number: 6629211
Abstract: A method and system for accessing data in a redundant array of inexpensive disks (RAID) subsystem is disclosed. The RAID subsystem includes a RAID controller having a cache and a plurality of disks. The method and system include utilizing the cache in a write back mode if the RAID subsystem is lightly loaded. In write back mode, the data is written to the cache prior to storing the data on at least one disk of the plurality of disks or prior to outputting the data from the RAID subsystem. The method and system also include utilizing the cache in a write through mode if the RAID subsystem is heavily loaded. In the write through mode, the data is written directly to at least one disk of the plurality of disks and, in a preferred embodiment, at the same time written to any cache buffer. Thus, data is written to the disks without the delay associated with managing a full cache when in write back mode required to flush an existing cache buffer to make a free buffer available.
