  • Patent number: 4722674
Abstract: A combustion air blower assembly for a furnace includes a casing, a blower in said casing and a motor for driving said blower secured to said casing. This invention provides unique mounting means for securing the motor in close proximity to the casing, while allowing motor flexure in a direction radial to the axis of the motor to dissipate torsional vibration energy and maintaining the structural integrity of the motor in the axis thereof. The mounting means comprise a plurality of generally J-shaped isolation springs having a loop at each end. One loop of each isolation spring is secured to the casing and the other loop is secured to a bracket on the motor. Each isolation spring is generally flat and extends generally perpendicular from the wall of the casing to which the motor is secured.

  • Patent number: 4571236
Abstract: In a cartoner for filling and sealing tubular cartons wherein the cartons are carried between leading and trailing transport lugs, a mechanism for squaring the cartons consisting of inclining a leading lug in a rearward direction to engage a corner of a carton to hold the carton in an erect, squared attitude.

  • Patent number: 4568264
Abstract: An improved combustion chamber for a condensing furnace comprising an elongated cast body having a mixing chamber for receiving fuel and air and an expansion chamber communicating with said mixing chamber, a fuel inlet in said body communicating with said mixing chamber, an air inlet in said body communicating with said mixing chamber and means for igniting the air fuel mixture in said mixing chamber, the fuel inlet and the igniting means being opposed to one another to enhance the ignition of the fuel and air in the mixing chamber. An important feature of the invention is the critical ratio of the transverse cross sectional area of the expansion chamber to the transverse cross sectional area of the mixing chamber for maintaining continuity of operation. Such ratio should be about 2/1 to 2.4/1. In a preferred form of the invention, the igniting means is a spark plug and the spark plug opening into the mixing chamber is co-axial with the fuel inlet.

  • Patent number: 4475621
Abstract: A gas furnace of the pulsating combustion type having improved sound reduction means comprising an exhaust decoupler body adapted to receive pulsating exhaust gases from the combustion chamber, the exhaust decoupler body having an opening with a silencer tube fixed therein, the silencer tube having an inlet opening receiving the pulsating exhaust gases from the combustion chamber and the silencer tube extending into the exhaust decoupler body and having an outlet opening in the mid-region of said exhaust decoupler body. Outlet means in the form of slots are provided in the length of the silencer tube within the exhaust decoupler body. The silencer tube cooperates with the exhaust decoupler body to dissipate the energy of the pulsating exhaust gases.Resonator means are coupled to the exhaust pipe which connects the combustion chamber to the silencer tube.

  • Patent number: 4054019
Abstract: In a cartoning machine, a series of L-shaped product buckets mounted on a chain conveyor and a series of inverted L-shaped tamper-confiner elements mounted on a conveyor chain overlying the product buckets, the tamper confiner elements being cammed to form, with the product buckets, a gradually closing, generally rectangular compartment whose inside dimensions are substantially the same as the carton into which the product is to be inserted. One leg of the tamper-confiner element is articulated to engage the bottom wall of the product bucket before the tamper-confiner is in its final position, thereby preventing pinching of the product.

  • Patent number: 4000687
Abstract: A conveyor mechanism conveys flat, tubular cartons having a central divider past an erecting station. During the conveying, two knives enter the carton from both ends and engage a bottom wall adjacent the divider and trailing side wall, respectively. The erecting mechanism engages the trailing side wall to swing it and the divider upwardly about the respective knives.
