  • Patent number: 5569231
Abstract: A sanitary napkin having an absorbent core with three longitudinally oriented trisections, a central trisection flanked by two outboard trisections. The absorbent core is formed of a single layer of tissue. The single layer of tissue is folded on itself to provide a two-ply thickness at each of the outboard trisections and a single thickness at the central trisection. The two plies of the outboard trisections are preferably adhered together. Absorbent gelling materials are disposed in each of the outboard trisections. The central trisection is substantially free of absorbent gelling materials. The sanitary napkin also preferably comprises a secondary topsheet intermediate the topsheet and the absorbent core. The secondary topsheet is also substantially free of absorbent gelling materials.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4712473
Abstract: A forming station for can end closures which includes a pair of opposed die structures. Apparatus for forming code markings in the can ends as they are processed includes a plurality of arrays of incising pins retained in matrix configurations in the face of one of the opposed die pieces. The ends of predetermined pins in each array are supported above the die surface to form recognizable patterns in the can ends. The indicia being formed can be quickly changed by substituting a new pin support surface configuration.

  • Patent number: 4519516
Abstract: A tamper indicating package comprising a container having a neck with external threads thereon, a radial bead beneath the threads, and a closure having a base wall and a peripheral wall with internal threads on the peripheral wall complementary to the threads on the container. The closure having a radially extending lip at the free end of the peripheral skirt. A tamper indicating band comprises a continuous annular wall, an upper radially inwardly extending flange for engaging the lip on the closure, and a lower generally radially inwardly and upwardly extending flange for engaging the flange on the container. The lower flange is discontinuous such that the tamper indicating band can be applied to the closure and container after the closure has been applied to the container by moving the band axially downwardly and causing the lower flange to flex radially outwardly and then snap radially inwardly beneath the flange of the container.
