  • Patent number: 8337402
Abstract: An improved laryngoscope blade for use with a conventional laryngoscope handle and conventional means of illumination. The blade tapers from the handle end to the end that is inserted in the mouth, so that the blade roughly conforms to the shape of the tongue. In addition, the sides of the blade curve upward so as to cradle the tongue. This design allows the intubator to better control the tongue and more easily view the vocal chords during insertion of an endotracheal tube. Furthermore, the ambidextrous, symmetrical design is easier for left-handed doctors and technician to use.

  • Patent number: 7794688
Abstract: Magnesium oxychloride cement is formed by mixing a magnesium chloride (MgCl2) brine solution with a magnesium oxide (MgO) composition in a selected stoichiometric ratio of MgCl2, MgO, and H2O that forms the 5 phase magnesium oxychloride cement composition. Although Sorel cements formed from the mixture of MgCl2, MgO can form a variety of compounds, the inventive systems and methods provide for controlling the cement kinetics to form the five phase magnesium oxychloride cement composition and results in an improved and stable cement composition. Various fillers can be optionally added to form preferred cement materials for uses as diverse such as road stripping, fire-proofing, fire barriers, cement repair, and mortar.

  • Publication number: 20040123325
Abstract: Tutorial information is provided on an on-demand basis over a digital two-way multichannel broadband communications network, e.g., cable TV network, which is also used for transmission of entertainment programming content. The tutorial information may relate to the access, control and viewing of the programming content. In an illustrative embodiment of the invention, in response to a request for tutorial information initiated by a user, a graphical user interface (GUI) is provided, which lists tutorial topics for user selection. Upon a selection of a tutorial topic, the related tutorial presentation is transmitted to the user, which may be in the form of a video presentation, slideshow presentation and/or textual displays. The tutorial presentation may be manipulated by the user to perform rewinding, pausing and fast-forwarding thereon.

  • Patent number: 4437400
Abstract: A stamping device includes a baseplate, a slide mounted on the baseplate, a carriage movably mounted on the slide, and a punch holder coupled to the carriage for movement therewith. The carriage is movable in an adjustable, predetermined indexical manner to allow for precise aligning and positioning of the punch or die imprints.

  • Patent number: 4088042
Abstract: A vibration isolation system wherein a vibrating mass such as a helicopter rotor-transmission assembly is spring coupled to a body to be isolated, such as the helicopter fuselage, at a plurality of points. Each coupling point includes, in addition to a coupling spring, a weighted lever arm pivotally connected to the vibrating mass and to the body, with the body-to-lever pivot connection lying between the center of gravity of the arm and the vibrating mass-to-lever pivot connection. The coupling spring is in the form of a torsion spring, e.g., torsion bar, coupled between the body and the lever arm at the pivot connection therebetween. Vibratory forces of a predetermined frequency transmitted from the vibrating mass to the body through the spring are substantially cancelled by inertial forces generated by the lever and applied to the body through the body-to-lever pivot connection, thus isolating the body from the vibrating mass at the predetermined frequency.
