  • Publication number: 20030226798
Abstract: The present invention relates to the latch-assisted lid extractor. The present invention includes a canister and a lid connected to the canister via a latch assembly. The latch assembly includes an over-center lock to removably secure the lid to the canister. Additionally, the latch assembly can be moved from a first position sealing the canister with the lid to a second position urging the lid away from the canister. The present invention provides a mechanism that can both securely latch or fasten a lid to a canister and at the same time assist in removing the lid from the canister to enhance ease of operation.

  • Patent number: 6361684
Abstract: A fuel filter assembly for the filtering of a flow of fuel includes an outer shell defining a hollow interior and, at a first end, a fuel inlet passageway, a fuel outlet passageway, and a water collection region. The outer shell has a second end which is open and constructed and arranged to be closed by a removable lid. Installed within the hollow interior of the outer shell is a fuel filter cartridge which includes a filter element constructed and arranged for water separation. The filter element defines an interior space into which a fuel transfer pump is installed and which is operable to push fuel through the filter element. Included as part of the fuel filter assembly is a filter detector control circuit including a normally-open filter detector switch which is electrically and operably coupled to the fuel transfer pump. A plunger on the filter detector switch must be depressed in order to close the circuit and enable operation of the fuel transfer pump.

  • Patent number: 6354283
Abstract: A diesel engine crankcase ventilation filter has a flat low profile modular filter housing, preferably extending vertically and having a top opening closed by a modular filter element inserted downwardly thereinto and closing and completing the housing. The construction provides a closed crankcase ventilation, CCV, filter in mobile diesel engine applications of limited space.

  • Patent number: 6270659
Abstract: A fuel filter for an engine includes a housing having an interior space and is assembled into a fuel flow path between a source of fuel and the engine. The housing includes a passageway which has an inlet aperture which is used to control the delivery of fuel to either the engine or back to the source of fuel. The housing also includes a return-fuel passageway which is in flow communication with the interior space and is adapted to couple to the source of fuel. A filter cartridge is installed within the housing and includes an end cap with an air vent tube having an inlet opening. The air vent tube is designed so as to assemble into the passageway, so as to plug the inlet aperture. Once the inlet aperture is plugged by the air vent tube, the flow entrance to the passageway is raised from the inlet aperture to the inlet opening of the air vent tube. The plugging of the inlet aperture by the air vent tube allows fuel to be delivered to the engine.

  • Patent number: 6264831
Abstract: An integrated fuel filter and fuel pump assembly with a water separation capability includes a fuel filter housing and a fuel filter element placed within the fuel filter housing. The fuel filter housing includes an outer surface with a connection interface for a fuel pump. This connection interface includes a fuel inlet port and mounting provisions for threaded fasteners. The fuel pump which completes the integrated assembly includes a fuel inlet and a fuel exit which is directly connected to the flow inlet of the housing. Further, the fuel pump is directly mounted to the outer surface of the housing in a unitized-type of arrangement. The upper endplate for the filter element is enlarged so as to extend beyond the outer diameter of the filter element and additional serve as a closing lid for the housing.
