  • Patent number: 9078425
Abstract: A game decoy is provided with a heat-producing and conducting, surface-activating system to melt frozen precipitation and to dry off any surface moisture for the melted precipitation or rain which may otherwise lie on the surface. Such “wet look” decoys can provide a warning to game animals defeating the designed purpose of the decoy. An anti-icing, anti-moisture coating can be employed as well to discourage ice, snow and moisture from adhering to the surface of the decoy.

  • Publication number: 20140338249
Abstract: A realistic looking waterfowl decoy has repositionable head and body portions to enable members of a group of decoys to be placed in a variety of positions to mimic a resting flock of real birds, for example, geese. At least portions of the bodies, as well as the necks and heads, of the decoys can have faux feathers adhered to their surfaces to more accurately simulate real waterfowl. A preferred embodiment of the decoy assembly has oblate spheroid end portions formed on attachment portions of both the legs and a keel member which allow the decoy assembly to be alternatively adapted for use both on land and in the water.

  • Patent number: 8793923
Abstract: A decoy with a counterweight suspended from a central keel attached along the centerline of the decoy behind the decoy's center-of-gravity. When a wave swells beneath the decoy creating a force which would tend to cause a side-to-side rocking motion of the decoy, the counterweight absorbs a portion of the sway-inducing force, resisting the tendency of the decoy to rock. This provides a more natural bobbing of the decoy producing a believable rise and fall of the decoy's head and body portion.

  • Patent number: 6722077
Abstract: A hand held game fowl decoy comprising a generally flat body having opposed substantially parallel surfaces of contrasting color or brightness. The body includes a first rigid portion and a second rigid portion having a peripheral outline generally to provide roughly a silhouette of a game fowl's wing. The body is hinged along a hinge line which forms the junction between the first and second body portions. A handle adapted to be held in the hand of a hunter extends from the first body portion. Repeated movement of the handle by the hunter effects swinging of the second body portion relative to the first portion about the hinge line alternately making visible to the game fowl being hunted the contrasting color or brightness of at least the second body portion and simulating the flapping of a fowl's wings.

  • Patent number: 5279063
Abstract: A wild game decoy including a flexible reconfigurable neck interconnecting a head and a body. The neck may be manually reconfigured to position the head relative to the body, and the neck will remain in the selected position so as to cause the decoy to assume and retain various selected lifelike poses. The decoy may include supports which selectively permit it to stand in a rigid position or rock back and forth upon the supporting surface.

  • Patent number: 4890408
Abstract: A waterfowl decoy comprising a solid molded body having a layer of burlap-like material adhesively secured to its outer surface. The fabric covering is coated with the adhesive. A shaped head is affixed to the body, and the coated fabric layer is painted to resemble a selected waterfowl species. A keel including means for securing and retaining an anchor line is provided on the bottom of the body. The keel includes a recess particularly adapted for retaining a deployed anchor line.
