  • Patent number: 7287304
Abstract: A cam cleat particularly usable for securing laces of footwear which is easy and quick to assembly making use of a base member with vertically extending studs including vertical slots defined therein to facilitate the studs flexing inwardly to a smaller diameter to facilitate placement of engaging caps on the studs with the respective locking rims of the studs being engageable into locking grooves defined in the mated surfaces of the engaging caps. In this manner the caps can be snapped onto the mounting studs merely by exerting downward pressure thereon with a return spring held in the proper position.

  • Patent number: 6324774
Abstract: A retaining clip for holding shoelaces and replacing standard footwear eyelets including one integral member formed with a base attached to the shoe upper with a curved member extending upwardly therefrom and an upper member extending back across the base. An abutment member extends outwardly from the upper member toward the base member to be in abutment therewith for retaining a shoelace therewithin and a prying tab extends upwardly from the abutment member. The shoelace when urged against the prying tab will cause the abutment member to separate from the base allowing the shoelace to snap into place. When the shoelace is pulled against the opposite side of the abutment member, release is achieved. The footwear construction includes a shoelace securement means having a cam cleat for firmly gripping of the shoelaces and facilitating extremely rapid operation of the overall footwear closure construction.

  • Patent number: 5996256
Abstract: A footwear device with an improved means of closing thereof utilizing a lacing means extending through eyelets or hooks and being fixedly secured in a tightened position extending therethrough by being positioned through a cam cleat. Preferably the configuration of the cam cleat includes two individual cam cleating devices one on each opposite side of the ankle of the wearer which each may include a guide ring for facilitating guiding and retaining of the shoelace extending therethrough. It is preferred that the shoelace include a plurality of slits defined therein which are adapted to be positioned extending over and retained by studs mounted in spaced relation with respect to one another adjacent to each of the camming cleats to neatly and in an orderly manner prevent the laces from becoming dislodged from the cam cleat as well as to prevent them from being undesirably loosened.
