  • Patent number: 6296130
Abstract: Screw on caps for bottles that have an anti back off feature formed on a hinged tab of the cap engaging detent teeth below the threads on the bottle. The hinge has a unique configuration that enables the tab to snap into and hold a gripping position while avoiding temporary distortion or creep. The detent teeth are particularly suited for use with blow molded bottles and are capable of restraining a cap within a small angle of a fully tightened position to avoid any significant back off and potential leakage. In one embodiment, the anti back off feature is provided in a child resistant cap while in another embodiment this feature is provided in a simpler continuous thread cap.

  • Patent number: 6253940
Abstract: A tamper-indicating closure of integrally molded plastic construction that includes a base wall having a peripheral skirt with an internal thread for affixing the closure to the container finish. A tamper-indicating band is connected to an edge of the skirt by frangible bridges. A stop flange extends from an edge of the band remote from the skirt for abutment with a bead on the container finish to inhibit removal of the closure absent fracture of the frangible means. A plurality of circumferentially spaced openings extend radially through the skirt at a position between the frangible bridges and the internal thread. These openings provide for ingress of cleansing solution during a washing operation after the closure is applied to a container to flush any residue from between the tamper-indicating band and the closure finish.

  • Patent number: 4599064
Abstract: Apparatus for forming objects from molten material includes a mold frame and a movable mold side having complementary faces that define molding cavities. The mold frame includes a mold housing having an internally heated manifold which has a molten plastic distribution channel system for conducting molten plastic to injection nozzle passageways, each having a restricted discharge nozzle that discharges the plastic into a molding cavity. Within each injection nozzle passageway is a heater probe which has an internal heater, preferably an electrical cartridge heater. The probe is secured by an integral seating flange to the mold housing to hold the probe coaxially aligned in the injection nozzle passageway and to hold the probe against shifting with thermal expansion and contraction of the manifold. The integral rear flange is positioned in front of manifold block and has a connecting passageway that communicates the manifold distribution channel with the injection nozzle passageway.
