Abstract: An approach is provided for sharing rendered content that includes receiving initial data that indicates a content sharing service and a subscriber to the service. An initialization message is sent to the content sharing service based on the initial data. In response, a subscriber data message that comprises a playlist that indicates content rendered by the subscriber is received. In response to receiving the subscriber data message, a device of a user is caused to indicate that content sharing with the subscriber is permitted.

Abstract: An approach is provided for sharing rendered content that includes receiving a request for a content locket for a user. The content locket includes data indicating a content playlist associated with the user, and script for generating a message that requests an action related to the content indicated in the content playlist. The content locket is forwarded. In response to receiving the message generated by the script, the action related to the content is performed. The content locket can be embedded in a web page or passed in other messages, such as emails or instant messenger messages.
