    Abstract: A digital camera system with an image sensing device, wlhich includes an image sensing device, a converter, an image processor and a universal serial bus (USB) transceiver. The image sensing device receives light to capture an analog image signal. The converter is connected to the image sensing device to convert the analog image signal into a digital image. The image processor is connected to the converter to perform a special image processing on the digital image to thus produce a processed image. The USB transceiver is connected to the image processor to send the processed image to a host and receives digital camera parameters sent by the host.

    Abstract: A digital camera image controller apparatus for a mobile phone is disclosed, which uses a sensing module to collect optical signal of an image and produce RGB (red, green, blue) image signal from the optical signal, and an image controller to receive the RGB image signal and accordingly produce a preview signal of the image to an LCD module. Also, the image controller outputs compressed or non-compressed image signal to a baseband processor. In addition, the image controller includes chromatic aberration interpolator and an RGB-to-YUV converter provided by a typical camera module. Therefore, the inventive camera module can include a sensing module simply having lens and sensor, thus avoiding defects caused by using the typical camera module.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method used in a money-receiving machine for recognizing currency is disclosed. After a coin or a paper currency inserted into a coin or paper currency receiving unit of the money-receiving machine, the currency recognition apparatus fetches an image of the inserted currency, and selects the reference image of currency corresponding to the image of the inserted currency from a database. Then the currency recognition apparatus calculates a similarity value between the image of the inserted currency and the reference image of the selected currency, and determines that the inserted is genuine if the similarity value is larger than a critical value.

    Abstract: A sound generating device capable of reading codes is disclosed for reading machine readable code arranged on printing material to generate corresponding voice output. An image sensor captures an image of the machine readable code. An image processor preprocesses the image of the machine readable code for acquiring identifiable image signals. A decoder decodes the image signals, based on encoding rules of the machine readable code, into texts or symboles represented by the machine readable code. A voice generating table pre-stored with voice waveforms corresponding to various texts and symbols converts the decoded texts or symbols into voice waveforms. A digital to analog convertor converts the voice waveforms into corresponding analog speech or special sound effect to a speaker for broadcasting.

    Abstract: A memory architecture is disclosed for storing macroblocks of an anchor picture. Each macroblock is an i.times.j matrix of p blocks of n.times.m pixels, where i,j,m,n and p are integers, p>1 and p=i.multidot.j. The blocks of each macroblock are consistently ordinalled with an ordinal q, 0.ltoreq.q.ltoreq.p-1. The memory architecture enables p parallel decoding engines to simultaneously access different blocks of a predictive macroblock of pixels identified in the anchor picture. The memory architecture includes p simultaneously addressable memories. Each of the memories is for storing pixel data of mutually different blocks of each macroblock of the anchor picture. Specifically, each of the p memories is assigned to at least one q.sup.th ordinalled block of each macroblock of the anchor picture, which at least one q.sup.th ordinalled block is different from the ordinalled blocks assigned to each other memory. Each of the memories only stores the corresponding at least one q.sup.
