  • Patent number: 11916415
Abstract: A battery charging apparatus includes a battery compartment having a receptacle that is configured to receive a battery pack. The battery charging apparatus includes a first heat exchange module and/or a second heat exchange module. The first heat exchange module includes a plenum surrounding the receptacle, where the plenum includes a chamber to receive a fluid. The plenum also includes a plurality of flow guides disposed in the chamber to define a variable flow passage for the fluid. The second heat exchange module includes a battery connector and a heat sink thermally coupled to the battery connector. The heat sink is arranged to dissipate thermal energy from the battery pack.

  • Patent number: 8224472
Abstract: A system for managing a project that includes multiple tasks and a plurality of workers. Input information includes characterizations based upon a human model, a team model and a product model. Periodic reports, such as one or more of a monthly report, a task plan report, a schedule report, a budget report and a risk management report, are generated and made available for display or further analysis or collection into a customized report template. An extensible database allows searching for information based upon context and upon content. Seven different types of project risks are addressed, including non-availability of required skill mix of workers. The system can be configured to exchange data and results with corresponding portions of similar project analyses, and to provide user-specific access to specified information.

  • Patent number: 7349313
Abstract: A magnetism test method for a tray-type optical drive is disclosed. A preliminary input voltage is provided to a DC motor of the tray-type optical drive for performing a preliminary ejection on a tray and a magnetic clamper of the tray-type optical drive. Then, a test voltage smaller than the preliminary input voltage is provided to the DC motor to partially eject the tray, in which the tray is ejected to a point short of the complete distance of ejection. When the incomplete distance is longer than a predetermined distance, the magnetic force of the magnetic clamper is determined to abnormal.

  • Patent number: 7266053
Abstract: The present invention discloses a tray-out control method for moving out a loading tray of an optical drive. A first forcing function is applied to the loading tray to overcome a lesser magnetic attraction when an optical disk is placed on the loading tray. A second forcing function is applied to the loading tray to overcome a greater magnetic attraction when the optical disk is not placed on the loading tray. A maximum value of the second forcing function is larger than a maximum value of the first forcing function.

  • Patent number: 6977878
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of adjusting a rotation speed of an optical disc drive for a spindle motor controlled by a host to rotate and read an optical disc. First, it is determined whether the data read by the optical disc drive is in Mode 1 or Form 1 of Mode 2. If in Mode 1 or Form 1 of Mode 2, it is determined whether the frequency of read request commands output from the host is lower than a predetermined value or not. If the frequency of read request commands output from the host is lower than the predetermined value, then it is determined whether the response data output to the host is sequential reading data or not. If the three situations mentioned above are all sustained, the data read by the optical disc drive is ascertained as MP3 data. Thus, the rotation speed of the spindle motor is decreased to a lower value.

  • Patent number: 5401466
Abstract: A dry phase device separates high density lipoprotein (HDL) from a blood (serum or plasma) sample. The device contains a fluid permeable material having dispersed therein finely divided, porous silica or silicate particles as selective absorbant for HDL. By combining the device with a second layer designed to remove very low density lipoproteins/chylomicrons from the blood, and a third layer containing means for quantitative cholesterol detection, there is provided a test device for the direct determination of low density lipoproteins cholesterol.

  • Patent number: 5290703
Abstract: A method for separating high density lipoproteins from blood serum or plasma. The method involves contacting the blood sample with an absorbant material comprising porous silica or silicate to adsorb the high density lipoprotein in preference to other lipoproteins in the blood sample. When combined with means for removing very low density lipoproteins and chylomicrons from the blood sample, the remaining low density lipoproteins can be measured directly.
