  • Patent number: 10491981
Abstract: A method for determining a current usage state of an earphone that includes a speaker and an air pressure sensor. The method obtains a pressure signal from the air pressure sensor that indicates air pressure proximate to the earphone, the air pressure sensor produces the pressure signal in response to the earphone being inserted into an ear of a user. The method processes the obtained pressure signal to determine that the earphone is in a state of use, and in response, performs at least one of (1) outputting an audio signal through the speaker signifying that the earphone is in use (2) establishing a wireless connection with a media playback device to exchange data between the earphone and the media playback device, or combination thereof.

  • Publication number: 20190104473
Abstract: The present disclosure describes aspects of managing communication control for wireless power transfer. In some aspects, a method for managing wireless charging communications is provided. The method includes wirelessly receiving power from a wireless power transmitter and providing the wirelessly received power to a power management circuit. The method further includes providing power and a power source indication signal to a transceiver circuit. The power source indication signal is indicating the power is the wirelessly received power.

  • Publication number: 20190098388
Abstract: An electronic device such as an earphone may have sensor circuitry. The sensor circuitry may include optical proximity sensors and capacitive sensor circuitry. An ear support structure such as an ear hook may be used to hold the earphone adjacent to an ear of a user. In this position, a speaker in the earphone may be used to present audio to the user. The ear hook may be formed from an insulating elastomeric polymer. A stainless steel wire or other bendable structural support member may be embedded within the elastomeric polymer. The bendable member may hold the ear hook in a desired bent shape after bending by the user. The capacitive sensor circuitry may include one or more capacitive sensor electrodes coupled to capacitance-to-digital converter circuitry. Control circuitry may activate the optical proximity sensors in response to detection of a capacitance to confirm that the earphone is being worn.

  • Publication number: 20190098390
Abstract: An earbud may include capacitive sensor electrodes and a capacitance-to-digital converter that is configured to make capacitance measurements with the capacitive sensor electrodes. The earbud may have a housing in which a speaker is mounted. A tubular portion of the housing may have a passageway that is aligned with the speaker. The tubular portion may be received within the ear canal of a user. The tubular portion may include a tubular member on which the capacitive sensor electrodes are formed. The tubular member may be formed from a compressible tubular member that is compressed when the earbud is worn in the ear of the user. Ring-shaped electrodes and other electrodes may be formed on the compressible tubular member. Control circuitry in the earbud may determine whether the earbud is fully or partially within the ear of a user based on the capacitance measurements.

  • Patent number: 9007789
Abstract: The present invention provides an electric circuit wherein a multi-phase bridge is connected in series with a plurality of single-phase bridges. The multi-phase bridge is composed of a plurality of 3-level diode clamped legs, while the single-phase bridges each is composed of two 3-level diode clamped legs. The present invention also provides control strategy for synthesizing multi-level voltage waveforms from output voltages of the multi-phase bridge and the plurality of single-phase bridges.

  • Publication number: 20090172062
Abstract: A fast Fourier transform (FFT) is performed on first-fourth input data points. Real and imaginary portions of the first input data point are stored in first and second registers. Real and imaginary portions of the second input data point are stored in third and fourth registers. Real and imaginary portions of the third input data point are stored in fifth and sixth registers. Real and imaginary portions of the fourth input data point are stored in seventh and eighth registers. Operations are performed in place in the first-eight registers and in a ninth register to generate a first-fourth output data points stored in the registers that represent an FFT of the first-fourth input data points. The radix-4 FFT may be cascaded to perform higher bit-level FFTs on sets of data points. Furthermore, the data points may be reordered between cascaded radix-4 FFTs to enable efficient use of memory.
