  • Publication number: 20050267896
Abstract: A client subscribes to a pub/sub service, the client comprises an application program for performing an operation on a published message received from a Pub/Sub service. The operation on the message comprises any one of saving the message to storage, accessing a web service based on information in the received message, authorizing subscription, executing an application identified by the message, filtering the message information for presentation to a user, overriding a message function, transforming the message media format or forwarding the message to another node.

  • Publication number: 20050138132
Abstract: A framework for creating instant messaging Bots that autonomously operate within an instant messaging sessions to respond to requests from other user(s) or Bot(s). Bot operation is defined by a state machine with one or more states that are described in XML documents. These XML documents abide by the grammar of a Bot Transition Definition Language (BTDL) that is defined in an XML schema. A Bot developer creates a state transition diagram via a Graphical User Interface. The state transition diagram defines states, transitions between states, and conditions for each of those state transitions and methods to be performed upon each state transition. An XML document that conforms to BTDL format is created from the state transition definition diagram. Both stateful and stateless Bots are defined using XML documents abiding to a BTDL format. A runtime environment implements the Bots, accepts runtime inputs and generates responses.

  • Publication number: 20050114306
Abstract: A Web Services Parallel Query (WSPQ) web service that allows a user to enter a question, parses that, distributes the question, user preferences and information parsed from the question to a number of search services. These search services then perform a search based upon the question and/or the parsed information. The search services then return results to the WSPQ web service. The WSPQ normalizes rankings of results provided by the search services, adjusts these rankings based upon default weighs or client specified weights for search service providing the result and then presents the user with a unified list of results that are sorted or prioritized based upon their rank.

  • Publication number: 20040207659
Abstract: The invention provides a Graphical User Interface (GUI) interface for building programs from web services. The interface to a web service is represented in a user menu preferably by an icon and text. A user drags and drops an icon representing a web service from the menu to a display area and interconnects the icon to other icons representing other program entities (preferably other web services). Preferably, a more detailed icon is created in the display area after the drag and drop. The completed set of interconnected icons in the display area are saved as a new program entity. The invention further includes visualization of the flow of information through the model in a test mode.

  • Publication number: 20040205064
Abstract: An entropy based adaptive search method for searching a database or other repository system or modality whereby an Attribute of an object is presented as a question to a user. The Attributes are presented according to their adjusted entropy values. The user provides an attribute value to the attribute by the act of selecting one question from the questionnaire to begin with. Each time the user selects a question and answers it, a new list of attributes and a new questionnaire is derived based on previous activity. When a threshold number of results has been reached the results are displayed to the user.

  • Publication number: 20040199896
Abstract: A computer program capsule is created from programs that include at least one other web service program. The programs are interconnected and saved as an encapsulated program for use as an encapsulated program or a web service program. The encapsulated program is created and interconnected from a local or remote computer.

  • Publication number: 20040122906
Abstract: Publishing electronic messages to clients within a group in a Pub/Sub message publishing environment wherein the group includes authorized participating clients in network communication with a pub/sub service. A client is authenticated for authority to publish messages to a selected group of subscribing clients.

  • Publication number: 20040019645
Abstract: Electronic messages are published through a pub/sub service to subscribing clients. Client applications filter incoming messages according to user predefined criteria, only presenting messages to the user that pass filtering criteria. Messages are preferably Instant Messages transmitted in a SOAP protocol.

  • Patent number: 6510758
Abstract: A speed controller has a body, a collar interference fit in the through hole of the body, a rotation element having an arcuate extension formed to correspond to an arcuate passage and provided with multiple notches, a sleeve formed to mate with an elongated extension and an elongated protrusion. A user rotates the sleeve to drive the rotation element to accomplish the speed change. Friction between the body and the cable is reduced by removing the lining of the body, so that the force required to operate the speed controller is greatly reduced.

  • Patent number: 5771516
Abstract: An exchange power hand tool includes a power section having a motor encased in a housing and two tool sections, respectively serving as a wrench and a jack actuator, alternately and exchangeably engageable with the power section to be driven thereby so as to provide one power hand tool with two functions. The power section has an output pinion mounted on the motor spindle to be engageable by a driving gear chain of the tool sections for transmission of torque from the power section to the tool section for selectively performing wrenching operation or jack actuation.

  • Patent number: 5740892
Abstract: A torque transmission mechanism to be used in a power wrench includes a body driven by a motor, having a central bore to rotatably support therein a toothed end of an output shaft. The toothed end of the shaft has a pair of diametrically opposite teeth, each defined by two circumferentially opposite contact faces that extend along radii of the output shaft. The body has a radial notch communicating the bore with a coupling member pivotally received therein. The coupling member has two opposite wings alternately movable into the bore with the rotation thereof to selectively engage one of the teeth for driving the shaft. A centrifugal clutch is provided between the body and the motor to control the movement of the wings.

  • Patent number: 4621365
Abstract: A device is disclosed which simultaneously performs sync preamble correlation detection and frequency offset estimation functions for a spread spectrum receiver. The device performs a parallel frequency search, executed by a plurality of frequency sensitive circuit channels connected in parallel. These parallel circuit channels first apply phase corrections to the subcorrelator outputs and then linearly reintegrate the corrected outputs. In each channel the phase corrections applied to each successive subcorrelator output vary with the frequency offset subregions to which the channel is designed to match. By applying approximated phase corrections of 0.degree., 90.degree., 180.degree. or 270.degree. in lieu of the exact phase corrections required to remove the phase shift, the need for multiplication operations in the reintegration process is eliminated, as well as the need for storing large numbers of weighting coefficients.
