  • Patent number: 5588455
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved structure of a securing runner of an umbrella. The runner includes a sleeve, a nest, and a base, wherein the sleeve has an upper and a lower groove on one side related to a curved end and a holding end of a detent positioned in a main tube of the umbrella. The nest portion connecting with stretchers of the umbrella and the base are provided around the sleeve that the base has an inner circular rim to fit into a circular groove provided on lower part of the sleeve to obtain a good engagement between both. While the runner is pull downward, the sleeve urges the detent spring moving inwardly directly and the runner can be slid down to close the umbrella.

  • Patent number: 5494065
Abstract: An improved umbrella framework having a powerful strutting action is provided. The umbrella framework includes a strut frame member situated at the underside of a first umbrella frame member. The outer end of the strut frame member is connected to the outer end of a second umbrella frame member. The center of the strut frame member is connected to a support strut and the inner end is connected to a center guide. The center guide is installed onto the umbrella pole between a positioning ring and an upper guide. A sliding guide is disposed on the umbrella pole below the positioning ring. The sliding guide is operated to open the umbrella, whereupon the support strut effectively actuates the movement of the commonly connected strut frame member, the second umbrella frame member and the tail umbrella frame member.

  • Patent number: 5472006
Abstract: An improved four-section umbrella framework is provided. The framework includes an attachable flexible frame member having a small slot in the main frame member of the umbrella framework. A connector is positioned inside the main frame member such that the latch ring of the connector protrudes through the small slot on the main frame member and provides for the simple attachment of a hook formed at the end of a flexible frame member to form a secure and practical hook joint.

  • Patent number: 5387048
Abstract: The invention relates to a securing means for the telescopic stick of a multiple-fold umbrella, mainly comprising a U-shaped resilient element having round holes disposed thereon mounting on a stub with the two end portions extending into the grooves situated on the sides of the stub. On the stub is transversely arranged a hole that provides rooms for a spring and a locating plunger. The stub, integrated with the spring and the plunger, is placed into an inner tube where the stub, in conjunction with detent balls and positioning holes on the peripheral walls of the inner and the outer tubes, can provide stable, reliable latching and positioning functions for telescopic tubes as the umbrella is opened.

  • Patent number: 5297572
Abstract: A folding umbrella frame is provided which includes an improved frame linkage having a second stick with a recess formed within it and an inclined outer end pivotally secured to a fourth rib member. A first stick member is coupled to a first rib member and includes a second end which is inclined and is pivotally secured to a third rib member. The first rib member has an end which is inclined for pivotal coupling to a central section of a second rib member. The inclined ends of the first rib member, the first stick member and the second stick member reduces the force required to open and close the folding umbrella while the recess receives an end of the first rib member to reduce the volume of the umbrella when in a closed state.
