  • Publication number: 20240109027
Abstract: A system contains a CO2 purifier and a CO2 electrolyzer. In operation, the CO2 purifier selectively captures CO2 from a gas stream and then releases purified CO2 as an output. The purified CO2 is then provided as an input to the cathode of the CO2 electrolyzer. The CO2 electrolyzer can electrochemically reduce the CO2 to a carbon-containing product (CCP) that may be stored, consumed, used to synthesize a valuable product, etc. The purifier may be an electrochemical cell that allows at least some non-CO2 inlet components to pass without being absorbed. Depending on the composition of the inlet stream, examples of non-absorbed components include water, nitrogen, carbon monoxide, oxygen, and sulfur-containing compounds.

  • Publication number: 20230365878
Abstract: Methods that increase production of a liquid transportation fuel blend component by utilizing C5 hydrocarbon streams taken from both a refinery naphtha stream and an NGL fractionator pentanes plus stream. A high vapor pressure pentane fraction from the NGL fractionator is separated to remove isopentane and produce lower vapor pressure commodity natural gasoline. A refinery naphtha stream (that is optionally an FCC naphtha stream) is separated to produce a C5 olefins stream that is then oligomerized to produce an upgraded stream having lower vapor pressure and higher octane rating, then combined with the remainder of the naphtha stream as well as the isopentane stream to produce a gasoline blend component that meets specifications for vapor pressure and octane rating.

  • Patent number: 11648519
Abstract: Systems for the catalytic activation and/or dehydrogenation of a paraffin feed stream that is enriched in C5 alkanes to produce olefins that are then hydrated in the presence of water to produce C5 alcohols. Optionally, paraffin isomers are separated and the n-paraffins isomerized prior to catalytic activation and/or dehydrogenation.

  • Publication number: 20110250348
Abstract: Methods and apparatus relate to preparing particles for use as electrode material in batteries. Wet attrition milling provides the particles sized as desired. Pre-milling with a jet mill, for example, may occur prior to the wet attrition milling. Further, adding a soluble carbon-residue-forming material to a suspension before and/or after the wet attrition milling can facilitate the wet attrition milling and/or enable in-line coating via procedures causing precipitation of the carbon-residue-forming material onto the particles that are sized.
