Abstract: Compounds having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is alkoxycarbonyl, amido, alkylamido, or dialkylamido; R'.sub.3 is alkylbenzylamino, dialkylamino, 1-pyrrolidinyl, 1-piperidinyl, 4-morpholinyl, or 4-alkyl-1-piperazinyl; A.sub.1 is an alkylene group having 2 to 5 carbon atoms; and n is 1, 2 or 3; are intermediates useful in the preparation of substituted amides having antiinflammatory activity.

Abstract: 1,2-Dihydro-2-oxo-4-phenyl-3-quinolinecarbonitrile derivatives are provided having the structure ##STR1## wherein (CH.sub.2).sub.n represents a straight chain alkylene group containing 2 to 5 carbons, and R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and may be hydrogen or lower alkyl with the proviso that at least one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is lower alkyl, or ##STR2## can be taken together to form a heterocyclic radical containing 5- or 6-members in the heterocyclic ring, such as pyrrolidino, piperidino or morpholino, and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 may be the same or different and are hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, halogen or trifluoromethyl, and physiologically acceptable acid addition salts thereof. These compounds are useful as anti-inflammatory agents. A pharmaceutical composition containing the above compounds and a method of use are also provided.

Abstract: Compounds having the formula ##STR1## wherein A.sub.1 is an alkylene group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms; R.sub.1 is dialkylamino or a nitrogen containing heterocyclic group and R.sub.2 is phenyl, substituted phenyl, naphthyl, or 1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl; have antiinflammatory activity.

Abstract: Compounds of the structure ##STR1## are provided, wherein n is 1, 2 or 3, m is 2, 3 or 4, X and Y may be the same or different and are hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkylthio or trifluoromethyl, and B is di-lower alkylamino, piperidino, pyrrolidino, morpholino, or N-lower alkylpiperazino and pharmaceutically acceptable acid-addition salts thereof. These compounds have been found to be useful as antiinflammatory agents.

Abstract: Novel benzothiazepines having the structure ##SPC1##The pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, the quaternary ammonium salts thereof, and the 1-oxide and 1,1-dioxide derivatives thereof; wherein R.sub.1 is phenyl or substituted phenyl; R.sub.2 is chlorine or bromine; R.sub.3 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, or trifluoromethyl; n is 2, 3, or 4; m is 0, 1 or 2, A is CH--R.sub.4, N--R.sub.5 or oxygen, R.sub.4 is hydrogen or alkyl, and R.sub.5 is hydrogen, alkyl, monohydroxyalkyl, phenyl, or substituted phenyl, provided that when m is 0 or 2, A is CH--R.sub.4 ; have useful pharmacological activity.

Abstract: Anti-inflammatory activity and hypotensive activity are exhibited by compounds having the formula ##SPC1##The salts thereof, and the 5-oxide and 5,5-dioxide thereof, wherein A is a straight or branched chain alkylene group; R.sub.1 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, trifluoromethyl, or halogen; R.sub.2 is hydrogen or alkyl; and R.sub.3 is hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl, or phenylalkyl.
