Publication number: 20240078486Abstract: Example methods and systems are directed to a managed inventory. A database may store information regarding items owned by a user. The information regarding an item may include a quantity owned and one or more triggering events. Based on the occurrence of a triggering event, an order for the item may be placed without user intervention. Data to the database may be provided by one or more sensors. Triggering events may be defined in terms of sensor data. The triggering event may be defined by a user or through machine learning. The order may be placed using a predetermined modality or a dynamically-determined modality based on one or more criteria, such as price, shipping speed, and the urgency of the order.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 9, 2023Publication date: March 7, 2024Inventors: Dane Glasgow, Steve Yankovich, Marc Peter Hosein, Shweta Pogde, Snigdha Mokkapati, Gokulkrishna B. Publication number: 20230108249Abstract: Mismatch detection using periodic structures is provided. Embodiments described herein can measure and detect mismatch between two loads in a radio frequency (RF) system without the need for external calibration by referencing their measurements into a small set of parameters that are intrinsic to the RF system design. This approach can be used to compare impedances of two loads and measure their impedances relative to each other without requiring any external calibration (e.g., the approach does not assume any prior known physical quantities in the system, such as a reference impedance). This approach can be used to compare the two loads to each other, as well as to quantify the amount of mismatch between these loads by calculating reflection coefficient between the loads. Loads can be passive devices, such as antennas, or they can be active devices, such as amplifiers.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2021Publication date: April 6, 2023Inventors: Muslum Emir Avci, Chethan Kumar Y. Publication number: 20180121237Abstract: Performance of a virtual machine system is improved by avoiding and/or eliminating bottlenecks in read and write operations. The system analyzes current virtualized workloads and provides working set estimates for individual VMs, hosts, and clusters. The working set estimate data is then utilized to make specific recommendations for different types of backend storage technologies. After procuring a storage device, the system provides a variety of information to aid in the operation of the system. From this information, the system can detect various scenarios and proactively make recommendations to the user about ways in which to improve storage performance at a host level and at a per-VM level. In some embodiments, these recommendations may be implemented automatically without user involvement.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 24, 2017Publication date: May 3, 2018Inventors: Bryan Jeffrey Crowe, Satyam B. Patent number: 8935500Abstract: Distributed storage resources having multiple storage units are managed based on data collected from online monitoring of workloads on the storage units and performance characteristics of the storage units. The collected data is sampled at discrete time intervals over a time period of interest, such as a congested time period. Normalized load metrics are computed for each storage unit based on time-correlated sums of the workloads running on the storage unit over the time period of interest and the performance characteristic of the storage unit. Workloads that are migration candidates and storage units that are migration destinations are determined from a representative value of the computed normalized load metrics, which may be the 90th percentile value or a weighted sum of two or more different percentile values.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 2011Date of Patent: January 13, 2015Assignee: VMware, Inc.Inventors: Ajay Gulati, Irfan Ahmad, Carl A.
