Publication number: 20240121655Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. For example, the described techniques provide for a first device (e.g., a cellular modem or user equipment (UE)) mapping quality of service flows of a first radio access technology (e.g., cellular) to service classes of a second RAT (e.g., Wi-Fi). The first device may communicate mapping information that indicates the mapping to a second network device (e.g., a router). The first device and the second device may communicate various packets via the quality of service flows and the service classes.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 5, 2022Publication date: April 11, 2024Inventors: Xiaolong Huang, Patrick Poon-Cheuk Chan, Sebastian Speicher, Huichun Liu, Suli Zhao, Sai Yiu Duncan Ho, John Thomas Harrsen

Publication number: 20240089791Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless communications systems, a wireless device may buffer uplink communications. However, such approaches may be improved. An access point (AP) may receive, from a station, uplink traffic of a traffic flow for forwarding to a backhaul network via a backhaul link. The AP may monitor a buffer of the AP to determine that a quantity of buffered uplink traffic received from the station exceeds a buffer quota, the buffer quota set for the traffic flow based on a traffic throughput capacity of the backhaul link and a throughput parameter for the traffic flow. The AP may modify, based on the quantity of buffered uplink traffic exceeding the buffer quota, an uplink communication scheme to reduce the quantity of uplink traffic from the station.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2022Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: Xiaolong Huang, Srinivas Katar, Sandip Homchaudhuri, Guido Robert Frederiks, Bhaskara Peela, James Simon Cho, Patrick Poon-Cheuk Chan

Patent number: 8020185Abstract: A scheme for retrieving digital multimedia content from a network node. A message is provided to the network node by a client application executing on a digital multimedia device, wherein the message includes a multidimensional pointer to a depository of digital multimedia content associated with the network node as well as a timing parameter operable to indicate when the message is to take effect. The multidimensional pointer contains a relative time offset variable as well as a plurality of media identifier dimensions corresponding to a plurality of nested hierarchical levels into which the digital multimedia content is organized. Responsive to the message, content from a particular content source identified by the multidimensional pointer is streamed to the digital multimedia device at a time indicated responsive to the timing parameter.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2005Date of Patent: September 13, 2011Assignee: Alcatel LucentInventors: Thomas Zeng, Michael Foster, Michael Severa, Cheuk Chan, P. Patent number: 7931918Abstract: A method of manufacture of ECM microparticles incorporating bioactive molecules for drug delivery has been developed, using a modified emulsification method or a water-in-oil-phase-separation method. The microspheres are photochemically crosslinked to control the release of the bioactive molecules for better drug delivery usage without compromising the biocompatibility of the crosslinked structures. The method uses mild fabrication conditions and simple processes, no toxic chemical crosslinking reagent, which may cause cytotoxicity and calcification after implantation, no organic solvents, which may reduce drug availability and bioactivity, and no vigorous stirring action, which may fragmentize material with poor shape and mechanical stability and thus destabilize the emulsion. The resulting microparticles or microspheres are of controlled size, controlled release, highly biocompatible, and useful for drug delivery as well as cell culture.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2008Date of Patent: April 26, 2011Assignee: The University of Hong KongInventors: Barbara Pui Chan, Ming Cheuk Chan, Kwok Fai So

Publication number: 20100070646Abstract: A system and a method transfer multiple data channels between a server and a terminal via a stream session over a network. The system and the method utilize a bitstream switching, a fast buffer filling and/or a fast playback start to facilitate a switch from a first data channel and a second data channel. The server transfers second data of the second data channel to the terminal via one or more tracks which are encoded at more than one bitrate and/or are configured in one or more configurations. The terminal requests a change between the first track and/or the second track without terminating the stream session for the first data channel between the terminal and the server. As a result, the system and/or the method minimizes the delay period of time between requesting the switch to the second data channel and displaying the second data channel.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 17, 2009Publication date: March 18, 2010Inventors: Cheuk Chan, Giri Anantharaman, Greg Sherwood, Osama Al-Shaykh, Mark Banham
