  • Patent number: 6386593
Abstract: A dual-plane sealing configuration for a fluid-tight conduit connection that incorporates additional sealing areas and minimizes assembly misalignment. A gasket is mounted around a conduit, sandwiched between an end-form block and a receiver, and compressed therebetween using a fastener fitted through the end-form block and threaded into the receiver. The gasket has a formed pilot that pilots around the conduit and is sandwiched between the conduit and a chamfer in the receiver to establish a secondary seal. The gasket incorporates features such as a fold-over tab and a non-uniform embossment to counteract the cantilever behavior of the conduit connection.

  • Patent number: 5521340
Abstract: An apparatus for attenuating noise produced by fluid pressure pulsations in a hydraulic system in an automotive vehicle is disclosed. The apparatus includes a muffler device comprising a generally elongate tubular member having a predetermined number of attenuating zones therein, each zone having a cross-sectional area of different size than the cross-sectional area of the tubular member. The attenuating zones are spaced at unequal lengths from one another to achieve maximized noise reduction benefits.

  • Patent number: 4600053
Abstract: This specification relates to a heat exchanger (10) of the type wherein a plurality of elongated plates (12) are laminated together to define a plurality of passageways (14) for movement of a fluid therethrough. Each of the passageways (14) are formed by inwardly facing surfaces of a pair of laminated plates (12--12) which define a central fluid conducting section (34) located between reservoir sections (32--32) at each end thereof. Adjacent of the passageways (14--14) have heat transfer fins (18--18) located therebetween. Reservoir sections (32--32) of adjacent ones of the passageways (14--14) are interconnected so that a fluid may flow therethrough. The improvement of this invention is made to the laminated plates and it includes a plurality of beads formed on each of the pair of laminated plates (12--12). The beads formed on each of the plates are of two distinct varieties.

  • Patent number: 3976128
Abstract: A plate and fin heat exchanger in the form of a refrigerant evaporator. The heat exchanger comprises a plate and fin structure providing alternately channels for the flow of refrigerant and spaces for the flow of air. An apertured inlet manifold is in communication with the refrigerant flow channels. A refrigerant distribution tube is inserted into the inlet manifold through the aperture in the latter. The distribution tube is provided with a series of orifices formed in the tube wall in register with the refrigerant flow channels. The improvement comprises a construction and arrangement in which the orifices are directed toward the air inlet side of the heat exchanger. Preferably, the orifices are directed to the air inlet side of the heat exchanger at an acute angle to a horizontal plane, the angularity being on the order of 0.degree. to 15.degree. relative to the horizontal plane and below the latter.
