Patent number: 11968856Abstract: Exemplary subpixel structures include a directional light-emitting diode structure characterized by a full-width-half-maximum (FWHM) of emitted light having a divergence angle of less than or about 10°. The subpixel structure further includes a lens positioned a first distance from the light-emitting diode structure, where the lens is shaped to focus the emitted light from the light-emitting diode structure. The subpixel structure still further includes a patterned light absorption barrier positioned a second distance from the lens. The patterned light absorption barrier defines an opening in the barrier, and the focal point of the light focused by the lens is positioned within the opening. The subpixels structures may be incorporated into a pixel structure, and pixel structures may be incorporated into a display that is free of a polarizer layer.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2021Date of Patent: April 23, 2024Assignee: Applied Materials, Inc.Inventors: Chung-Chih Wu, Po-Jui Chen, Hoang Yan Lin, Guo-Dong Su, Wei-Kai Lee, Chi-Jui Chang, Wan-Yu Lin, Byung Sung Kwak, Robert Jan Visser

Patent number: 11956994Abstract: The present disclosure is generally related to 3D imaging capable OLED displays. A light field display comprises an array of 3D light field pixels, each of which comprises an array of corrugated OLED pixels, a metasurface layer disposed adjacent to the array of 3D light field pixels, and a plurality of median layers disposed between the metasurface layer and the corrugated OLED pixels. Each of the corrugated OLED pixels comprises primary or non-primary color subpixels, and produces a different view of an image through the median layers to the metasurface to form a 3D image. The corrugated OLED pixels combined with a cavity effect reduce a divergence of emitted light to enable effective beam direction manipulation by the metasurface. The metasurface having a higher refractive index and a smaller filling factor enables the deflection and direction of the emitted light from the corrugated OLED pixels to be well controlled.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 2021Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: Applied Materials, Inc.Inventors: Chung-Chih Wu, Hoang Yan Lin, Guo-Dong Su, Zih-Rou Cyue, Li-Yu Yu, Wei-Kai Lee, Guan-Yu Chen, Chung-Chia Chen, Wan-Yu Lin, Gang Yu, Byung-Sung Kwak, Robert Jan Visser, Chi-Jui Chang

Patent number: 10454363Abstract: A synchronous rectifier alternator and a power allocation method thereof are provided. The synchronous rectifier alternator includes an alternator, a synchronous rectifier circuit and a controller. The alternator converts mechanical energy to alternating current (AC) electrical energy. The synchronous rectifier circuit converts the AC electrical energy to direct current (DC) electrical energy and provides the DC electrical energy to a load. The controller detects a voltage level of the DC electrical energy. When the controller detects that the voltage level is higher than or equal to a first threshold voltage value, the controller controls ONs and OFFs of first transistors and second transistors of the synchronous rectifier circuit, such that at least one of regulator diodes of the synchronous rectifier circuit, a stator of the alternator and the load consume power of the alternator.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2018Date of Patent: October 22, 2019Assignee: ACTRON TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventors: Shang-Shu Chung, Shih-Chieh Hou, Chien-Tin Chen, Wei-Jing Chen, Chi-Kai Wu

Patent number: 10371724Abstract: A rectifier package module for a vehicle and a connection status detection method for a temperature sensor thereof are provided. The rectifier package module includes at least one temperature sensor and a control chip. The control chip has an end coupled to the temperature sensor through a bonding wire. The control chip generates a current and provides a reference voltage according to a mode selection signal. The current is provided to the temperature sensor through the bonding wire. The control chip compares a voltage on the end with the reference voltage to generate a comparison result. In a test mode, a comparison circuit generates the comparison result to indicate a connection status between the end and the temperature sensor.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2017Date of Patent: August 6, 2019Assignee: ACTRON TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventor: Chi-Kai Wu

Patent number: 9543886Abstract: A short circuit detection circuit and a short circuit detection method for a multi-phase rectifier are provided, which are used for detecting conditions of a spectrum of a FWR signal outputted from the multi-phase rectifier in the frequency domain. Next, determining whether the detected signal indicating the amplitude of the frequency of the AC signal is greater than or equal to the reference signal, so as to determine whether the multi-phase rectifier has a short circuit condition. Therefore, the short circuit detection circuit and the short circuit detection method do not have any requirements for configuring a short circuit detection element on each current path of the multi-phase rectifier, so that the power loss and the cost can be reduced effectively.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2014Date of Patent: January 10, 2017Assignee: ACTRON TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventors: Chi-Kai Wu, Chia-Sung Yu, Chih-Chun Lu

Patent number: 6332077Abstract: A roaming algorithm for associating a mobile station (STA) with an access point in a wireless LAN system used in an automatic guidance vehicle (AGV) application. Fast roaming is achieved by eliminating a STA's scanning time during the search of the next AP to associate with. To eliminate the scanning time, each AP is pre-configured with its adjacent APs in advance. Whenever an AP is associated with, a mobile station (STA) gets the information of neighboring APs from the currently associated AP. Then, the STA continuously monitors the signal strength of APs in its neighborhood. During roaming, the STA chooses the best AP to associate with without having to scan all the APs.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1999Date of Patent: December 18, 2001Assignee: National Datacom CorporationInventors: Chi-Kai Wu, Yi-Shou Hsu
