The second hard plastic component may be positioned on the central portion of the first hard plastic component and surrounded by the perimeter portion of the first hard plastic component. The second hard plastic component may have an outer surface with a plurality of grooves that are elongated in a direction of the longitudinal axis.

Abstract: A movable camera travels along an inspection path for optically inspecting an inspection surface of an object for defect detection. In planning the inspection path, a set of viewpoints on the inspection surface is generated. Each viewpoint is associated with a patch, which is a largest area of the inspection surface within a field of view (FOV) of the camera when the camera is located over the viewpoint for capturing an image of FOV. An effective region of the patch is advantageously predicted by a neural network according to a three-dimensional geometric characterization of the patch such that the predicted effective region is valid for defect detection based on the captured image. A valid area is one whose corresponding area on the captured image is not blurred and is neither underexposed nor overexposed. The inspection path is determined according to respective effective regions associated with the set of viewpoints.

Template unit boundary identification techniques of embodiments operate to analyze a sample of a tessellated image to determine a template unit size for the template image, use the determined template unit size to define pixel analysis line segments for identifying template unit boundaries in the tessellated image, and select a template image based on the template unit boundaries identified using the pixel analysis line segments. One or more sample area images may be selected for use in determining a template unit size. Pixel analysis line segments, configured based upon a determined template unit size, may be used for identifying boundaries of a template unit. Moreover, dynamic template image updating may be provided.

At certain predetermined distances between the image sensor and the lens module, a calibration pattern is illuminated and two or more pictures of the calibration pattern which is focused through the lens module are captured with the image sensor to produce at least two pictures of the calibration pattern captured at different distances, the at least two pictures being superimposed onto a calibration image. The exposure of the image sensor is then turned off and the pictures of the calibration pattern are analyzed for determining an alignment between the lens module and the image sensor.
