    Abstract: The energization control system for a motor equalizes the power loss of switching elements energizing coils of each phase of the motor in order to maintain a balance of heat development. The energization control system for a motor includes a plurality of phase coils and two switching elements. The energization control system of a motor supplies an electric current from the power source line to the coil when two switching elements are simultaneously conducted. Two switching elements are controlled under a first condition that one of the switching elements is switched every predetermined time while the other of the switching elements is conducted. Two switching elements are also controlled under a second condition that the other of the switching elements is switched every predetermined time while one of the switching elements is conducted. The first condition and the second conditions are repeated and synchronized to the predetermined time every predetermined period.

Energizing the phase coil is made by way of a first switching element and a second switching element. At the first stage, depending on an actual current value being in excess of a target current value, either of or both of the first switching element and the second element are made OFF. At the second stage, while the second switching element is being made OFF, the second switching element is made ON.

    Abstract: In a chopping energization control device, a pair of switching elements IGBT/U and IGBT/IL are used to control an electric power supplied from a DC power source to a phase coil CL1 of a DC motor, particularly an SR motor, such that one of the switching elements is alternately turned on-and-off while the other is being turned on continually. To avoid uneven heat generations between the switching elements, an arrangement is provided wherein whenever a time elapses beyond a limit value of for example, 10 milliseconds the conditions of the respective switching elements are swapped with each other. Such a swapping is established cyclically which causes equal heat generations in the switching elements.

    Abstract: For detecting a coil short-circuit in an electric motor such as a switched reluctance motor, an apparatus includes a first phase coil, a second phase coil, and a third phase coil. Through each of the coils, a current, whose amount is sensed by a current sensor, flows in such manner that the amount ranges from zero to a reference current amount in a reference set-up time duration. If the detected amount of current by the current sensor becomes the reference current amount in a time duration which is shorter than the reference set-up time duration and the resultant condition continues for an another reference time duration, it is regarded that a short-circuit occurs in the phase coil corresponding to the current sensor and the apparatus stops the electric motor.

    Abstract: A rising saw tooth signal generating circuit generates a rising saw tooth signal having a constant amplitude and a constant period which corresponds to a frequency being slightly higher than the human audible frequency range. The rising saw tooth signal generating circuit also generates a binary signal which generates a reference chopping timing synchronizing with the rising saw tooth signal. The rising saw tooth signal is inverted and a descending saw tooth signal is generated. The descending saw tooth signal is added to the reference current signal and a binary signal is generated by the result of the comparison between the addition signal and the actual current signal. A flip-flop generates a signal which reaches a low level whenever the binary signal is descended and which reaches a high level whenever the reference chopping timing comes. A further binary signal which moves to the high level at the feeding of the current and the signal are supplied to the AND gate.
