Publication number: 20200049866Abstract: An optical film includes a light incidence surface and a light exit surface. The light incidence surface is provided thereon with a plurality of microstructure lenses, which are each of an irregular shape showing a curved or arc configuration raised on and projecting from the light incidence surface of the optical film. The light exit surface is provided with a plurality of prism microstructures. When light gets incident onto the microstructure lenses formed on the light incidence surface of the optical film according to the present invention, the microstructure lenses scatters the light incident thereon to get into the optical film. The light exits through the light exit surface and is condensed by the microstructure lenses arranged on the light exit surface, so as to achieve uniform diffusion of light and enhanced brightness.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 13, 2018Publication date: February 13, 2020Inventor: Chien-Chin Mai

Publication number: 20100157625Abstract: Disclosed is a method for displaying multiple views, including forming a light guide plate having edge faces forming different-direction light incidence surfaces, setting light sources corresponding to the different-direction light incidence surfaces respectively, operating the light sources that correspond to the different-direction light incidence surfaces to respectively give off lights in a fast and intermittently alternating manner, deflecting the lights to respective predetermined orientations with the light guide plate, further deflecting the lights to desired orientations with optic films set on the light emission surface of the light guide plate, and operating a liquid crystal panel to realize control of signals for different images so as to show multiple views with the light sources that give off lights in different directions and the signals of the different images.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 23, 2008Publication date: June 24, 2010Inventors: Chien-Chin Mai, Jui-Tang Yin, Yeong-Feng Wang

Patent number: 7717604Abstract: A side-edge backlight module includes at least a light guide board, a reflector film, a plurality of optic films and a light source. The optic film has a surface on which a plurality of rib-like micro light guides is formed. Each micro light guide includes a plurality of ridges, which are of different heights and show variation of height. Either a high ridge or a low ridge of the micro light guide is made a continuous left-and-right wavy configuration and/or a continuous up-and-down height-variation configuration. Thus, light transmitting through the optic film and converged by the micro light guides leaves the optic film in a form that is not very regular so as to facilitate subsequent use of the light in for example a liquid crystal display panel.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2006Date of Patent: May 18, 2010Assignees: Gamma Optical Co., Ltd.Inventor: Chien-Chin Mai

Publication number: 20100046903Abstract: An optic film has a surface on which a plurality of rib-like micro light guides is formed. Each micro light guide includes a plurality of ridges, which are of different heights and show variation of height. Either a high ridge or a low ridge of the micro light guide is made a continuous left-and-right wavy configuration and/or a continuous up-and-down height-variation configuration. The high ridge has a top that is rounded, whereby by means of the rounded top of the high ridge, the high ridge of the optic film is protected from abrasion and wear or is prevented from causing damage to other parts of an optic device. Thus, protection of the optic film and other parts can be realized.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2008Publication date: February 25, 2010Inventors: Chien-Chin MAI, Jui-Tang YIN, Yeong-Feng Wang

Publication number: 20100046248Abstract: An optic film includes a substrate and a condensation layer. The substrate has a light incidence surface and a light emission surface. The light incidence surface is treated to form a roughened frosted surface. The condensation layer is arranged on the light emission surface of the substrate and forms prism-like micro-structures. With the light incidence surface of the substrate being directly subjected to knurling or sand blasting to form the roughened frosted surface, when light enters the substrate through the light incidence surface, the light is diffused first by the frosted surface of the light incidence surface and is then subjected to condensation by the condensation layer, whereby when the optic film is applied to a backlight module, the optic film can effect both diffusion and condensation of light, so that the number of optic films used in the backlight module can be reduced.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2008Publication date: February 25, 2010Inventors: Chien-Chin MAI, Jui-Tang Yin, Yeong-Feng Wang

Patent number: 7572046Abstract: An optic film has a surface on which a plurality of rib-like micro light guides is formed. Each light guide includes a plurality of ridges, which are of different height and shows variation of height. Either a high ridge or a low ridge of the light guide is made a continuous left-and-right wavy configuration and/or a continuous up-and-down height-variation configuration. Thus, light transmitting through the optic film and converged by the light guides leaves the optic film in a form that is not very regular so as to facilitate subsequent use of the light in for example a liquid crystal display panel.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2007Date of Patent: August 11, 2009Assignees: Gamma Optical Co., Ltd.Inventor: Chien-Chin Mai

Patent number: 7527407Abstract: An optic film includes a surface on which a plurality of densely distributed rib-like light guides is formed. Among the light guides, some are straight linear, while the others are of a continuous left-and-right wavy configuration. Thus, when light passes through the optic film and is converged thereby, the converged light is not completely in a regular distribution. In a backlight module using the optic film, light emitted from the backlight module does not cause diffraction and thus interference pattern is prevented from occurring.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2006Date of Patent: May 5, 2009Assignees: Gamma Optical Co., Ltd.Inventor: Chien-Chin Mai

Publication number: 20080123347Abstract: Disclosed is a method for molding a diffusion board of a direct type backlight module, including the steps of providing a board made of a material in which diffusion particles are mixed, passing the board through a roller set including an upper roller and a lower roller, the upper roller having a surface opposing the board and forming a micro-structure thereon, and heating and passing the board with the upper roller so as to transfer the micro-structure of the upper roller to a surface of the board and thus forming at least an optic micro-structure on the surface of the board so as to obtain a diffusion board. As such, when the diffusion board is applied to a backlight module, spreading and focusing of light can be effected without any optic film, so that the costs of the backlight module can be reduced.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 8, 2006Publication date: May 29, 2008Inventor: Chien-Chin Mai
