Patent number: 9062680Abstract: A pump has a housing that defines a pump chamber (200) with a fluid inlet and outlet (26, 28). An impeller (30) is mounted for rotation in the pump chamber. A raceway (40) is in floating axial relationship with the impeller and divides the pump chamber into an inlet chamber (202), an impeller chamber (204) and a discharge chamber (206). The raceway has preferably two flow channels, in separated end-to-end arrangement. Each flow channel has an inlet passage and an outlet passage, establishing a fluid conduit from the inlet chamber to the impeller chamber and then to the discharge chamber. A spring (60) provides resistance to axial movement of the raceway away from the impeller. A seal chamber (42) formed on the raceway and pressurized by the fluid, urges the raceway towards the impeller.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2012Date of Patent: June 23, 2015Inventors: Chih M. Publication number: 20150021901Abstract: A break-away fitting facilitates installation and removal of a pump in wet well system, along at least one guide rail. When installed, the fitting mates an outlet of the pump to an outlet pipe of to wet well. The fitting has a body with a first and a second surface, the surfaces arranged to be substantially perpendicular to each other. A flanged opening in the first surface is sized and adapted for attaching the body to the outlet flange of the pump. The second surface has indentations for engaging the at least one guide rail, so that the body slides in the vertical channel. To minimize the dangers from static electricity in the wet well, the body may be formed from a non-sparking material, such as brass or bronze, or a surface of the indentations may be covered by a non-sparking material, including high-density polyethylene or poly(tetrafluoroethylene).Type: ApplicationFiled: February 21, 2012Publication date: January 22, 2015Applicant: CRANE PUMPS & SYSTEMS, INC.Inventors: Mark Kowalak, Kirk Neer, Chih M. Patent number: 6127755Abstract: A method of assembling a motor and pump assembly. The machine or pump assembly includes an electric motor having a housing, an end frame and a bolt extending through the housing and the end frame to secure the housing and the end frame together. The end frame includes a through-bore having an inner diameter. The bolt has a major diameter that is greater than the inner diameter of the through-bore so that when the bolt is turned into the through-bore, the bolt creates threads in the through-bore of the end frame. When the electric motor is placed next to the housing, the bolt is turned to strip the threads in the through-bore and screw the bolt into the housing of the pump apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 1999Date of Patent: October 3, 2000Assignee: A.
