  • Patent number: 6504619
Abstract: In a print control apparatus, even when an error such as a paper jam or the like which needs the reprint occurs in a printer, in order to perform an error recovery to generate the accurate reprint result, for preparation of the error recovery, a command buffer preserving section to preserve commands and drawing attribute parameters of each page head (or a command file preserving section or a page buffer preserving section to preserve a drawing dot image) and a preservation command buffer use redrawing/reprint preparing section to perform the error recovery by using the preserved contents (or a preservation command file use redrawing/reprint preparing section or a preservation page buffer reprinting section) are provided in the print control apparatus. When the error which needs the reprint occurs, even for a command of the type such that the drawing attribute parameters are handed over between pages, the accurate reprint is executed by using the preserved contents.

  • Patent number: 5954436
Abstract: A printing apparatus executes a series of print commands from a host computer and controls a printer engine equipped with a rotation-type double-side printing mechanism. The printing apparatus comprises page buffers, a drawing-processing unit for drawing data on the page buffers. and a printing-processing unit for processing printing of a drawn data. The printing-processing unit determines whether the drawn data to be printed is first or second-half page is to be performed, and immediately starts printing of first-half if first-half page is determined or puts printing of the second-half page in a wait state if second-half page is determined. The printing-processing unit releases the printing of the second-half page from the wait state when a predetermined condition has been detected.

  • Patent number: 5303336
Abstract: A printing system in which a plurality of terminals for creating document data with different printing protocols or character codes, the document data including a string of printing commands, are connected to a print server for printing the document data via a network. Each terminal includes a device adding an identifier indicating a printing protocol or character code of the document data to be sent to the print server. The print server includes a converter for converting the different printing protocols or character codes into a common printing protocol or a common set of character codes according to the identifier. The print server may includes a memory for storing command processing programs associated with the different printing protocols or different sets of character codes and a switcher for selecting one command processing program or one set of character codes according to the identifier.

  • Patent number: 5265209
Abstract: A print control apparatus for controlling a page printer, such as a laser printer. The print control apparatus comprises a plurality of page buffers provided in units each corresponding to a page having a minimal or relatively small paper sheet size. A necessary numbers of page buffers are acquired and then released by a draw task or a print task according to the page size to be printed so that printing can be carried out even on large size paper sheets with less total capacity of the page buffers and printing can be carried out on average at the highest speed of the printer engine on small size paper sheets even if there is a page containing a lot of drawing data during a continuous printing operation.
