    Abstract: A method of forming a shell of a soft pack battery is provided. The method includes steps of adjusting temperature of a thin sheet material for the shell to a working temperature, applying a difference of fluid pressure to the thin sheet material as forming pressure, and a two-stage forming step. In a first-stage preforming step, a preform with a first depth is formed by the thin sheet material and at least one compensation portion is formed on the preform. In a second-stage final-forming step, the perform is molded into the final formed part with a second depth. Thereby the shell with a higher depth-thickness ratio is manufactured and the thin sheet material is uniformly deformed. The compensation portion is used for compensation of deformation at corners of the bottom of the final molded part. Thus thinning rate is less than 30% and yield rate is increased.

The upper and lower shells made of metal composite plates are connected closely to form a vacuum sealed cavity which the working fluid is filled in. The metal composite plate includes a metal matrix and a copper layer bonded to a surface of at least one side of the metal matrix. The metal matrix includes stainless steel and an aluminum silicon carbide (Al/SiC) metal matrix composite. The copper layer of the metal composite plate is treated by stamping process to form a support member inside the cavity. Thus complicated, polluting and high cost etching process is no more required. Therefore the production efficiency is improved and the cost is reduced. The metal matrix of the metal composite plate provides sufficient structural strength.

    Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides a supporting backplane made of a composite metallic sheet with a two-layer structure. The composite metallic sheet is made of a first metal layer and a second metal layer, which are made of different metallic materials. The first metal layer and the second metal layer are combined by a rolling process. A hardness or an elastic coefficient of the first metal layer is greater than a hardness or an elastic coefficient of the second metal layer. Another embodiment of the invention provides a composite metallic sheet with more than two layers. The first metal layer and the second metal layer are interlacedly superposed and combined by a rolling process. The advantage and function of the invention are a great service life and an adjustable elasticity of the supporting backplane after being folded or bent by adjusting the relative thickness ratio of the first metal layer and the second metal layer.
