  • Patent number: 6317927
Abstract: A hinge device of the present invention comprises a male hinge member, a female hinge member and a resilient tube. The male hinge member includes a connecting shaft at one end, a mounting plate at an opposite end and a shoulder between the connecting shaft and the mounting plate. The connecting shaft of the male hinge device forms a receptacle therein for receiving the resilient tube. Four channels are longitudinally defined in the connecting shaft and equiangularly distributed in the shape of a cross to prevent loss of friction in the hinge device. An arcuate surface is formed at each edge of the channels. The female hinge member includes a sleeve and a mounting plate extending from one end of the sleeve, the sleeve having a receiving opening for receiving the connecting shaft of the male hinge member. A longitudinal slot is defined through the resilient tube for enhancing resiliency and allowing expansion of the resilient tube.

  • Patent number: 6252160
Abstract: An I/O shield for an electronic assembly comprises a shielding plate having a reinforcing plate and a resilient plate attached together with a pair of side walls respectively extending from opposite edges thereof and a number of receiving slots disposed therein. The shielding plate is guided into an opening disposed in a chassis of the electronic assembly by the side walls. A number of spaced spring contacts is formed on the side walls by stamping and bending. Each spring contact comprises a base integrally formed with the side wall, a bend and a free end. The tip of the bend is located nearer to the base than to the free end. Thus, the free end will not warp or engage with notches disposed in a peripheral flange of the opening thereby facilitating removal of the I/O shield.

  • Patent number: 6249947
Abstract: A Mohs tapered handle remover enables a user to remove a bit by rotating a knob on a first end of the device to actuate the device. The knob, through a threaded interface, drives a slide rod outward. The slide rod causes a raising block to separate from a slide seat, thereby driving the bit out of the handle. The device enables the user to use rotational force instead of a direct force to remove the bit.

  • Patent number: 6203381
Abstract: An electrical connector includes an insulator defining an interior space for receiving therein a pin module formed by embedding conductive pins on an insert. Retention members are provided in the interior space between the insulator and the pin module including a first bound to limit the movement of the pin module in a first direction and a second bound to limit the movement of the pin module in an opposite second direction thereby effectively retaining the pin module in the insulator. The modularization of the pins received in the insulator allows the pins to be assembled into the insulator much more efficiently while the retention members effectively prevent the pin module from separating from the insulator.

  • Patent number: 6135789
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a housing forming a plurality of passages therein for receiving a plurality of terminal pins and a spacer fixed to the housing by means of fasteners. The spacer forms a plurality of channels for extension of tail ends of the terminal pins therethrough. The spacer has a board mating surface distanced from a bottom face of the connector. The board mating surface is positioned on the circuit board to mount the connector to the circuit board. At least a portion of the connector is located below the circuit board, and the remaining portion of the connector is located above the circuit board. The spacer forms two spaced slots for each receiving a flat boardlock therein which has board engaging legs for insertion into holes provided on the circuit board. The boardlock has a section retained by an expanded end of the fastener for securing the boardlock to the spacer.

  • Patent number: 6074225
Abstract: An electrical connector includes an insulative housing having a shielding shell made of a conductive material fitted thereto. The housing has two groups of pins separated by a central slot defined therebetween with a conductive plate received therein. The conductive plate is in electrical connection with the shielding shell. The conductive plate has two resilient fingers formed on a front edge thereof and thus engageable with a counterpart conductive plate of a mating connector. The resiliency of the fingers provides a positive engagement between the two conductive plates thereby establishing a sound electrical connection therebetween. This allows electrostatic charges on the conductive plates to be effectively removed through the shielding shell.

  • Patent number: 6065979
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an electrical connector includes the following steps. (a) Forming a number of insert plates and integrally fixing a plurality of conductive pins to the insert plates so as to form the same number of unitary components., (b) Inserting mounting sections of the pins into corresponding holes defined in a spacer component by component. (c) Fitting the insert plates into a slot defined in an insulator. (d) Mounting a shielding shell to the insulator to shield the conductive pins. The method may further include a step of bending the mounting sections of the pins an angle of 90 degrees before the mounting sections are fit into the holes on the spacer and a step of securing the shielding shell to the insulator by means of fasteners.
