  • Patent number: 7349806
Abstract: A method for predicting water clarity at a plurality of water depths for a location including providing training data to a neural network, the training data representative of water measurements at the location, thereafter receiving inputs including temperature, salinity, tidal information, water depth, and sediment data, and generating values for optical attenuation at a wavelength at a plurality of depths. In one embodiment, a default cloudy day algorithm operates at all times and a clear sky algorithm operates only when clear satellite images are available.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 15, 2005
Date of Patent: March 25, 2008
Assignee: United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Navy

  • Publication number: 20050121342
Abstract: A compact disc protective sleeve package, utilized to prevent compact discs from falling out of a protective sleeve, and comprising a first surface layer and a second surface layer configured to be corresponding layers. An intermediary layer is further configured between the first surface layer and the second surface layer, having two side edges and a bottom edge of the first surface layer and the second surface layer conterminously sealed, and because top edges of the first surface layer and the second surface layer are left unsealed, openings are formed there between. In addition, a top edging of the first surface layer extends to form a flap, which can fold over and cover the openings. Upon the flap folding over the openings, a closed package is formed thereof, and achieves objective of preventing the compact disc from falling out from the protective sleeve.

  • Publication number: 20050011781
Abstract: A storage container for compact disk protective covers, is a storage structure for facilitating packaging and arrangement of compact disk protective covers, and thus providing users with easy access to compact disk protective covers contained therein. The storage container formed by folding an integral and spread board, and is able to accommodate compact disk protective covers at an interior thereof. The storage container is provided with an arched aperture at an edge of a top portion thereof, and a long opening at a front side thereof for corresponding with the arched aperture. Through a corresponding design of the arched aperture and the long opening, users are facilitated to with easy access. In addition, compact disk protective covers are stored and package intact using an accommodating chamber formed for overcoming drawbacks of prior plastic coating packaging for compact disk protective covers.

  • Publication number: 20040245193
Abstract: A compact disk storage rack includes a securing portion and a rack portion both disposed at a same axis for relative rotations. The securing portion is non-rotatable when being fixed and positioned, whereas the rack portion is rotatable regarding the securing portion as a benchmark axis thereof. Moreover, a limiting assembly is provided between the securing portion and the rack portion for restraining relative rotations of the securing portion and the rack portion, and for controlling a rotated position of the rack portion. Using the aforesaid structure, a condition of objects hung at the rack portion may be transformed from being stacked to suspended, or vice versa, thereby minimizing storage spaces and facilitating retrieval or acquisition of a specific object.

  • Publication number: 20040092374
Abstract: A processing structure for plastic film folding is designed to fold and mold a sheet of plastic film with a thickness less than one percent of 1 mm through utilizing a rolling method to dispose an expanded drawing of a crease pattern on a rolling wheel; wherein, two ends of the rolling wheel are disposed with a guide wheel and a convey wheel for transmission; a rolling knife and a scoring knife are disposed at the center of the rolling wheels; the steadiness and rapidness of rolling for processing and molding the folding line as well as cutting reduce the defective fraction of a traditional punch processing.

  • Patent number: 5612901
Abstract: The presently disclosed invention relates to an apparatus and method for collecting satellite images of bodies of water such as the oceans and removing interfering clouds from the satellite images to improve the accuracy of the images. More particularly, the presently disclosed invention relates to the use of an apparatus and method to extract cloud edge information through local segmentation of the image and a procedure to discriminate between cloud free and cloud contaminated pixels. The cloud contaminated pixels are then removed from daytime and nighttime 1-km advanced very high resolution radiometer (AVHRR) satellite image.
