  • Patent number: 7147198
Abstract: A wax pattern for use in making a golf club head has a shell wall which defines a hollow region and which includes a front portion, a rear displacement portion and a dividing line extending between the front and rear displacement portions. The wax pattern has a profile conforming to that of the golf club head. A metal blank having the same shape and size as the wax pattern is made by using the wax pattern. The blank is then cut along a dividing line to remove a rear displacement portion thereof so as to form a metal part for making the golf club head.

  • Publication number: 20050043115
Abstract: A composite golf club head includes a light-weight alloy strike plate, a composite material body, a metal sole plate and a balance weight. The strike plate has a rear, and a rim is formed around the rear to form a hollow cup-like body. The body is bonded to the rim and is composed of a crown and a sole made of fiber prepreg material. A sole plate made of metal is mounted in the sole, and has a seat formed in the sole plate and a hole defined through the seat. A balance weight is mounted in the hole.

  • Publication number: 20050009629
Abstract: A golf club head or metal wood includes a body and a faceplate. The body has a face adapted to hit a ball. The faceplate has a sweet spot and a softened region. The softened region is formed around the sweet spot in the faceplate by a heat treatment technique. The treatment technique applies a high-frequency current to induce eddy currents in the faceplate and locally heat the faceplate to form the softened region in the faceplate. This, the golf club head will have a higher coefficient of restitution (COR), and the strength of the faceplate is retained to hit the ball successfully and powerfully.

  • Publication number: 20050009630
Abstract: A golf club head for a metal wood includes a body and a faceplate. The body has a front face having a recess. The faceplate is mounted in the recess and includes on outside plate and an inside faceplate. The outside plate has a thickness that is 1.0 to 2.0 millimeters and is made of high strength material. The inside plate has a thickness that is 0.5 to 1.8 millimeters and is made of high strength material. The inside plate, which is hollow or meshed, is connected to the outside plate. Therefore, the COR of the faceplate will be more consistent, and the faceplate can be fabricated with a large area.

  • Patent number: 6805643
Abstract: A composite golf club head includes a strike plate having a neck formed at an end of the strike plate. A rear portion is formed at an upper side of the strike plate and extends backwards. An inner plate, made up of multiple layers of fiber prepreg material, is adhered to an interior surface of the strike plate by a first of two adhesive sheets. A cover, made up of multiple layers of the fiber prepreg material, is adhered to the back of the rear portion by a second of the adhesive sheets. A bottom plate, made up of a metal material, is adhered to bottom portions of the strike plate and the cover by the adhesive sheets to close the head. A seat is formed inside the bottom plate, and a hole is defined through the seat. A balance member is engaged in the hole.

  • Patent number: 6681612
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a curved metal plate includes pressing a metal plate made of a plate material selected from titanium or titanium alloy with a die segment that forms thereon a convex surface curving in at least one direction and at least one recess, with a first side of the metal plate in contact with the convex surface, thereby curving the metal plate along the convex surface while allowing a part of the plate material on the first side of the metal plate to intrude into the at least one recess under pressure, thus forming at least one rib on the first side of the metal plate.

  • Patent number: 6626769
Abstract: A wood club head includes a hollow base, a top panel and a striking face. The base is integrally formed by casting and has a top opening and a front opening defined therein. A flange extends inwardly from a periphery defining the top opening. The top panel and the striking face are integrally formed together by forging. The top panel is welded onto the base and along an edge of the flange to cover the top opening. The striking face is welded onto the base to cover the front opening. Therefore, the present invention utilizes the advantages of casting and forging to create a high performance club head. Moreover, the welding between the top panel and the base is performed on the flange which extends substantially away from corner edges of the club head to prevent damaging of rigidity of the wood club head.
