  • Publication number: 20170081059
Abstract: Apparatus for vertically supporting and maintaining a web of plastic film horizontally aligned in applications such as machines that form the plastic film into bags and fill them. Separate coplanar consecutively spaced plates are aligned with and extend through a web normal traversing plane. One of the plates has a peak edge extending out of the web normal traversing plane in a first direction, whereas another has a peak edge extending out of the web normal traversing plane in a second opposite direction. The peak edges define an undulating plastic film travel path between a web upstream location and a web downstream location. The web of film is tensioned between the upstream location and the downstream location and travels along the continuous undulating path. The film flexibly bends over the peak edges as a result of the tension and is thereby supported and maintained aligned.

  • Publication number: 20170081055
Abstract: In an automated machine that forms a vertically positioned and horizontally traversing web of plastic film into bags, the apparatus opens, fills and closes the bags and provides slack in the bag walls to close the bag. The bag upper longitudinal edge portions are separated at a bag opening and closing assembly for thereby opening and filing a bag with material. While the bag is being filled, the bag is supported on a conveyor. The conveyor is raised vertically toward the opening and closing assembly while the bag is being closed for thereby providing slack in the bag walls. The conveyor horizontally conveys the filled bag under while a gripping and pulling assembly pulls the bag longitudinal portions into a heat sealing assembly whereat the bag walls are fused together and sealed closed. The bag is thereafter conveyed away therefrom and the conveyor is again placed in its lower position.

  • Publication number: 20170080634
Abstract: In an automated machine that forms a vertically positioned and horizontally traversing web of plastic film into bags and fills the bags with material, the apparatus forms the bags sealed side edges as well as aligned perforations whereat the bags are severed from one another after they are filled with material. The web includes a pair of parallel proximate plastic film walls. A vertically positioned heat seal bar is moveable onto the web severing the walls along a separation line and forming the fore and aft sealed side edges of the bags. A perforation knife is aligned with and positioned vertically above the heat seal bar, and is simultaneously moveable onto the web walls with the heat seal bar thereby forming a vertical perforation line at a web longitudinal edge portion. The separation line and perforation line in the web are thereby aligned.

  • Publication number: 20170081062
Abstract: In an automated machine that forms a vertically positioned and horizontally traversing web of plastic film into bags and fills the bags with material, after the bags are filled, a pair of gripping fingers clampingly grip and pull the bag upper longitudinal edge portions into a sealing gap between a pair of heat seal bars whereat the bag walls are heat fused together and the bag is sealed closed. A pair of clamp bars below the heat seal bars clampingly engage the bag walls after they are pulled into the gap and prior to heat sealing. The filled bags are linked along their longitudinal edge portions with perforations therebetween. The bags are severed from one another at a perforation when the gripping fingers pull the bag walls into the gap. The gripping fingers are carried on and are moved longitudinally with a pair of belts located vertically above the gap.

  • Publication number: 20170067426
Abstract: A filtration assembly filters diesel fuel used by a diesel engine and includes a filter element disposed within a housing. The housing includes an unfiltered fuel inlet and a filtered fuel outlet. The filter element disposed within the housing receives fuel from the fuel inlet. The filter element defines a peripheral wall sealably engaging filter media defining an unfiltered side and a filtered side of the filter element. The unfiltered side is enclosed with an impermeable barrier affixed to the peripheral wall and the filtered side is enclosed with a permeable water diffuser through which filtered fuel passes. A water separator assembly is disposed externally to the filter element receiving filtered fuel from the water diffuser. The water separator assembly includes water separator media preventing water from passing into the separator. The separator assembly interconnects to the filtered fuel outlet providing filtered, dewatered diesel fuel to the diesel engine.

  • Patent number: 9410303
Abstract: An apparatus for protecting against environmental contamination at a drilling site is disclosed. The apparatus is used to form a perimeter around the drilling site, the interior of which is covered by a geomembrane. The portion of the geomembrane found along the perimeter is placed in the groove of the apparatus's base. A key block is then fit into the groove, thereby holding the geomembrane in place by the tension created between the base and the key block. At those perimeter locations that will be traversed by vehicles and equipment, two ramp pieces replace the key block in holding the geomembrane tight against the base.

  • Publication number: 20140360135
Abstract: A continuous web of closed, preformed end-to-end bags for enclosing bales of material are made by forming an elongate sheet into a helix tube, flattening the tube into first and second elongate bag walls and securing the bag walls at closure seams located along the flattened helix tube. The helix tube is formed by nesting the elongate sheet side edges into U-shapes and sewing. The bag walls are secured to one another by nesting them into U-shapes and sewing. Bales are enveloped by severing the web and thereby providing a bag with an open end, separating the bag walls, inserting a bale therein, closing the bag and severing from the remaining web. Each bag is located along the web with a pair of sensors which provide a locating signal responsive to the bag closure seams.

  • Publication number: 20140360139
Abstract: An apparatus for separating the bag walls of preformed bags having an open end and a closed end for use in an apparatus for enveloping bales of material. The bag walls are initially adjacent one another. Vacuum and grip pin assemblies are provided on jaws which are movable between retracted and closed positions. The jaws are closed onto the bag walls and a vacuum is applied to vacuum inlet openings drawing the bag walls thereto. Preferably, the jaws are partially separated and then a grip pin is extended adjacent the vacuum inlet openings thereby piercing and securely gripping the walls. The jaws are then retracted thereby fully separating the bag walls and opening the bag. Preferably, the vacuum inlet openings are saddle shaped having a rim defining aligned raised sides and aligned lowered sides therebetween, and the grip pin extends along the aligned raised sides.

  • Publication number: 20140360138
Abstract: An apparatus for closing and sealing a preformed polypropylene bag after a bale has been inserted therein as the bale and bag traverse along a longitudinal line of travel. Left and right rotatable side flaps fold the left and right bag closure flaps onto the bale. A bottom rotatable fold plate partially folds the bag bottom closure flap and a top fold bar is extended and folds the top bag closure flap onto the bale. The bottom fold plate then folds the bag bottom closure flap onto the bale. The top and bottom bag closure flaps are sandwiched between the rotatable side flaps and the bottom fold plate and over a slack bar therebetween forming a slack portion. A heating assembly directs heat to the slack portion melting the polypropylene and a press plate is extended to the slack melted portion thereby fusing the bag closure flaps together.
