The contact pin includes a proximal end, an opposing distal end, and an intermediate segment therebetween. The contact pin defines a first internal cavity on the proximal end having an inner diameter. The contact pin further includes a central bore extending from the first internal cavity into the intermediate segment. The core insert includes a proximal end, an opposing distal end, and a support section therebetween. The support section includes an axial section having a diameter greater than the distal end, and the distal end is configured for coupling with the central bore of the contact pin. The guided insert includes a body having a proximal end, an opposing distal end, and defines a central cavity at least on the distal end. The central cavity has an inner diameter smaller than the diameter of the core insert support section.

Abstract: A connector assembly for a corrugated coaxial cable is provided. The coaxial cable connector assembly comprises a compression member having a first end and a second end, a connector body having a first end and a second end, an insulator, a pin, and a spring basket, wherein the first end of the compression member is structured to receive an exposed end of a corrugated coaxial cable and the second end is structured to receive the first end of the connector body, wherein the connector body is configured to retain the insulator therein and the insulator is configured to retain the pin therein to insulate the pin from the connector body, and wherein the spring basket is configured to couple to an exposed inner conductor of the cable, and wherein the compression member is configured to physically retain the cable and electrically couple an outer conductor of the cable to the connector body while electrically coupling the spring basket to the pin.

Abstract: A coaxial cable connector includes a step up pin that engages the center conductor of a coax cable to increase the diameter of the center conductor to thereby make it more manageable. The pin is stored with the connector until the pin and connector are affixed to a coax cable.
